DJ really improved his form already last season
While he will never be a good FT shooter, Duncan/Shaq both were also not good FT shooters for their entire career
There is a chance that he becomes a 60% FT this season and his ability to defend/rebound and with shooters to space him out and KP playing the HIGH POST, Jordan could score easily against many Centers 1v1
His REBOUNDING/DEFENSE changes the entire game himself, though we will need OTHER DEFENDERS to become a GOOD DEFENSIVE team (not easy to be with CA at his age)
He also has gotten stronger/quicker/more mobile/more athletic EVERY YEAR, and has great work ethic/work out regime that would be great for KP's development
Not many players can make up for CA's defensive weakness's and rebounding, DJ is one of them
Whiteside is a FA next summer that could play OFF and DEFENSE, but would he choose Lakers or Knicks? Along with staying on The Heat who could offer him the most money, though they do not own his bird rights
Most importantly though, he probably wants to sign a short term deal as he doesn't have much NBA years of experience to get these BIG contracts, so it wouldn't cost much...
Because he would make much less, it would allow a team to utilize their cap space better, though Heat has a combination of youth/vets with a system and GM with much respect while The Triangle takes time to learn/execute needing ALL 5 players to be on the same page...
If KP develops to a player that is Dirk/Gasol/KG/Anthony Davis like, it would allow other Centers to reconsidering joining NYK's like as he has the skills to dominate any 1 player in the deep post
Especially with KP being able to play the HIGH POST and pass over his defender, being interchangeable and causing mismatch problems, and being able to REBOUND/BLOCK SHOTS/DEFEND at a high level once he gets stronger...
There is NO guarantee that anyone WILL COME over though KP will likely attract more players than CA if he shows he could be the next greatest thing that is TOUGH and without an EGO on OFF and DEF
Maybe CA will demand a trade or at least prefer one to a contender, especially if we strike out in FA along with Houston, which would likely have us focus on development without EGO's and drama, along with collecting assets with our cap space, possibly some draft picks for these upcoming years....
