For Monroe. I would say this officially ends the stigma of playing in NY over smaller markets.

yep. great point!
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

players may still pick the big markets if all is equal

players won't pick a sh1tty big market team just because they are a big market team

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Woj says the knicks offered less. When it comes to trades you got to defer to Woj

I think this may be Falk throwing his pal Phil Jackson a bone. Who knows.

I think the Knicks said, "we'll give you the max, but we can build a better team if you take slightly less." And Milwaukee was like "you're the final piece in us making a big playoffs run, here's the max."

I made a thread about this - the league is flat now. There is no advantage to playing in NY for players. Marketing and media pressence is the same in any city.

Phil said he was concerned about the poor record having an impact. The roster is relatively barren. Players have all the power in Free agency. They can sign where they feel is the best situation for them. Nothing is guaranteed and Phil certainly didn't guarantee he would be 100% successful in Free Agency. That said there's still some solid players out there.

When a player turns a team down that has 17 wins then that player isn't confident enough that he can be the change. These type of players need a ready made situation they require a lot of leadership.

I can easily see that being the case since that is reportedly how it went down with Melo. I'm fine with that method negotiation. Obviously Monroe wasn't sold. I can't fault him not Phil. Time to move on.

Greg Monroe was reportedly offered max-money from each team that he met with, but took a smaller deal with the Bucks as they presented him the best opportunity to make the playoffs immediately.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

so much for the "Done deal" 1st reported thru F.Isola few months back
and then David West (done deal) 1 week or so before FA July 1.

Whom are these reporter experts getting their 'misinfo' from ?

All these guys just want clicks and views these days. If their report carries any weight or not is irrelevant. Nobody holds them accountable anyway so they don't care. Hence Knicks leaking info about pursuing players that won't even be in the league like Perkins. Guy wouldtake any contract. No fake recruiting story necessary. Just make an offer.

didnt happen
Monroe went for $$$ (same as max offered)
and also logic of BUCKs being further developed than either La Lakers Or Knicks

He went for 7-8 mil more (even though we offered the ssme contract) and no media pressure. Seems like a logic choice. Anything else put out there as a reason is smoke and mirrors.
