Is that why we will strike out with elite free agents?

What is in Uncle Phil's presentation?

winning 17 games with a GM that is not in town and a rookie coach that looked pretty awful, an owner that is borderline retarded, a fan base that has the worst case of ADHD, a star player who hates giving up the ball ...

there are a couple of reasons I guess

so here is what phil is thinking ....

One other thing that I have heard is that the Knicks would accept whatever length deal a player would want. In Monroe's case he could have an opt out in 2 years when the cap explodes. Not sure if it is enough. I am a bit worried about Dallas. It sounds like they are not going to get Jordan or Aldridge.

Could it be that the standard pitch leveraging the allure of NYC, celebrity row and endorsements is not so effective as in past years?

DeMarre Carroll is a Toronto Raptor.

they do? I know they made the playoffs and all - and if they in the West they don't - but I don't see them as a rising team, do you?

For players, it is all about winning. The Raptors won 32 more games than the Knicks

well...they did win almost 50 games last year. If we multiplied our win total by 3 we are about even which is sad

Lowry, Derozen, Jonas Valanciunas and now Carroll.

That is an excellent young core. And of course, playing in the east is an easier path to the playoffs.

Toronto was ranked as one of the top offenses but not good defensively. Carroll is what they needed.

my issue is that we have no first rounder next year. If we had our pick then i would have no problem waiting until next summer while getting another lottery pick. But now we almost are forced to try and overpay in order to keep the pick as low as possible

It's shocking he went to Canada where he is screwed on taxes even more than New York. He gets taxes in Canada & the U.S! He could've went anywhere or waited to see if the Knicks were still Offering a max contract. I'm starting to believe no one wants to come here. Having to play with Melo certainly doesn't help. I hope to god we get Monroe or West

Dude just left a 60 win team whose whole lineup just about made the all-star team. They had a few more years of that on their plate if they played it right. Carroll left for the money.

He left because from what I read, Atlanta was not even in his top 4 (as far as offers). So of course he went for money, he should ... this is his payday.

However, at least he went to a contending team. He does not seem like a player who would just go for a money grab.

Yea but the Knicks would've max him out if they struck out on every significant big man. Carroll at shooting guard for the Knicks then add solid bigs with whatever money was left. Now we will have to settle for Tobias Harris if that. And he plays the same position as Melo

I agree not having a pick is bad. But also remember having cap space during the season for salary dumps means you can get picks with it.

Not ideal but it can work.

They will end up with something but I doubt they are offering more than 2 years.

Ujiri reportedly thinks the Raptors went as far as they could as a team. Lowry, DeRozan, and Valencunias are supposed to be available.
