ok this time im serious. dont be shocked if the knicks consider him for cheap

Pros
- can still contribute
- cagey vet
- leadership
- shooting (good skill set for triangle)

Cons
- winding down
- injuries
- this is actually an upgrade and serious consideration

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

caron could still contribute off the bench. i think he'd fit the triangle. he's no spring chicken but at 20mpg he could help

hope NOT, especially with the room exemption

I understand leadership but you want someone that can stay on the floor and LEAD to be much more effective

Reggie Evans on a vet min deal and practice could bring some toughness/grit back to NYC
Though Acy has experience in the Triangle and they are somewhat comparable but Acy can still get better for a vet min deal

I think he would be a great pick up. He still played 20 minutes a game last year. He can hit the three, plays d and doesn't back down from anyone. I haven't followed him as much recently but he was snubbed a bit on draft night and seemed to be very motivated by that. Improved every year for a long time. The Knicks have a young team. They have some quality guys with leadership qualities but a vet like Butler would be a get in my opinion. I think Lou is a good vet to have around but Butler has a championship and has been close to being a star for most of his career. I read somewhere that he wants to go back to LA. That may have changed with the Clips adding Pierce.

The Knicks have a lot of young guys. Butler is a classy vet and a leader. I think you need one or two of those guys on a 15 man roster. I believe the only guys 30+ are Jose and Melo.

Unless we are unloading Early or are planning not to sign Thanasis then we may have to pass...

Yep, never under estimate the value of seasoned vets.

He's inconsistent and his core athleticism is about shot at this point.

More key, he'd eat into Galloway's minutes directly and Galloway still has future upside. Early would be almost completely shut out of the rotation with this, and if so, as a 2nd round pick, it would be a poor use of resources. Teams need to ID and develop 2nd round and UDFA talent quickly, they don't carry the same controllable years as a first rounder.

Early is on the roster, and in part, a tax on that is having Calderon and his lousy contract. Shutting out Early means the Knicks are eating that Calderon contract for literally nothing and that Chandler trade looks even worse.

As of yet, what Jackson plans to do with Derrick Williams causes a bit of a clog on the roster ( He's a tweener, he's currently too slow to play SF and he's not going to shoot enough/bang enough to play PF)

I'd rather sign Shved. I think Shved is up and coming and Caron is on the way down (as others have mentioned.)
But I would prefer to take a chance on relatively young rather than definitely getting old and losing skill.

That said, I wouldn't be destroyed if we got him. I realize he can help but we aren't winning the championship next year (I think.)
So, in that time, Shved probably becomes a much better player and I liked him as he was last year (just shoot a bit better.)
On the flipside, we probably have seen the best of Caron.

Butler is a bench fit for a contender. We are not winning any titles so rather give a oppotunity to a kid and hope we can strike bronze like we did with Galloway last year
