Very concerning for someone so young to have a bad hip. I agree that he needs time to fully recover and rehabilitate, and should be kept isolated, possibly in a bubble. And of course they will also have to seriously consider hip replacement surgery pretty soon.

Let's wait to hear more - if it's just a strained hip flexor, that can happen from just changing directions too fast.

This whole thing does point to how important it will be to develop KP's body correctly. He needs development in so many areas, which is why I worried about the Knicks drafting him. I hope they do a good job developing him.

This is a minor injury. But with the crack Knicks medical staff, it could be career threatening. Jk.

So with little to no info and no first hand knowledge Briggs has managed to conclude that Porzi needs an MRI and has an injured hip.

Bravo.

If you take his brother's words at heart--that he hurt his hip and they don't know what it is--then you should MRI that area.. and that a no brainer.

Im sure the MDs will know my just looking at the swelling. If there is ANYTHING more than minimal swelling than he should be shut down for a period of time. The "key" with ANY hip injury is to ensure it DOES not happen again. Once you hurt your hip--you are more susceptible than others to re-injury.

So basically your suggesting an MRI and "someone" should look at the swelling. Knicks would do well to read this thread.

Just a guess, but they probably have done something already.

If this is from the first workout he did with the Knicks, or something which happened before his June 12 "pro day," when he knew he would have to impress an American public which was still calling him a "mystery man," you will remember that Jackson mentioned they game him a physical and that there was nothing wrong- and I assume he would be talking about the kind of things which would keep a team from drafting him.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Im really hoping someone called the Phoenix medial staff and Knicks used an ice pack right away!!!!!

Im wondering if he should go to some secret ultra modern clinic in Germany and get some "Advil"?

Yes, but my worry is they may have to surgically remove his legs to do so

Must have been Renaldo Balkman disguised as Nalod, disguised as Melo that posted this.

ITs Portzingis' during surgery. Knicks say he will play but his brother is not 100%. This was last nite. If the surgery ended by this morning there is a good chance he'll play. If not, Wear can have his number 6.

So KP was hurt before he met the Knicks--good job by our crack medical staff!

Janis Porzingis said on the radio his brother’s injury occurred because of the strenuous workouts he underwent leading to his ballyhooed Las Vegas workout June 12, which was attended by Phil Jackson and almost every NBA team’s top executives.

You're really too much! Knicks are saying KP should be playing in SL. I hope he balls out.
