I know players want to maximize profit however, with guaranteed money, unlike football, the amount of years right now should stay the same with 4years and 5years
If they want more money than the years should go down to 3years and 4years
If a player wants the MAX, like Lebron does, with 30m a year type of deal, as EVERYONE wants 12-15m a year, it would be ridiculous
Unless Lebron does what Jordan did, play 1year at a time for 30m per year, and no LONG TERM SECURITY
He is leveraging Cleveland in to giving him a walking Kobe Bryant, as his last 2 years will likely be a HUGE decline
While they did exactly what he wanted by giving up Wiggons and trading for Kevin Love to make Lebron happy...
Lebron needs to man up and accept he made a poor decision while Love isn't such a good fit and NOT better than keeping what Wiggons would have been with Lebron's guidance
Instead of being staying quiet and seeing how Cleveland can improve...
Currently he is THE BEST NBA player in the world but 6years from now, he will be the an OVERPAID athlete with "experience"
Not EVERY works as hard as Lebron, look at Larry Sanders, owners need to protect themselves for people like that after getting a contract and NOT wanting to play basketball, along with Jerome James/Eddy Curry
ALL STAR's
Can generate a lot of money, however, there are a lot of expenses for a team, as well as doctors/management/insurance/advetisements/ OTHER WORKERS
So they need to open up the BOOKS and see how much these teams are actually MAKING with these ridiculous contracts that every player wants....
I can understand the FIRST MAX contract for rookies and teams that draft them should have that leverage in order to keep their own players that they invest in, if not they must take the qualifing offer to choose where they want to go like Greg Monroe did, along with Nick Young and a few others have....
Owners need to protect themselves as well, not get bullied by all these players by threats of leaving, and having their fan base turn on them with OVER 100m payroll's and TAXES
Can all markets really afford to pay these amounts?
