![]() If we can't trade him, keep him as a rotation/reserve player in the squad.

![]() Calderon is one season removed from starting PG on a Mavs 50 win team. He had a leg injury last year and couldn't move. Lets see him healthy.
My view is a 28mpg guard who plays high IQ ball, gets people in involved, takes care of the ball, plays mistake free hoops and will spread the floor with a great long range shot. He will get plenty of steals also and deflects tons of passes as well (not sure if folks realize that's part of playing defense also). He's not a great player. He's good when placed in a role where his abilities can shine. I think he starts with Grant unless Galloway can beat one of those guys out. I like Jose as a starter. With good players on the floor he's a stabilizing player. He plays hard and competes. Guy was hurt all year.. it was a bad break. Need to see him with fresh legs. He's a pro.. I expect him to be ready and for us to see his best. If not he's probably breaking down. It happens. When I was 31 my knees kept me out of the outfield and I pitched almost exlusively from then on out. I was still a terror on the basepads because I could run like the wind (or almost as fast as Panos), but I couldn't handle the running load of being a regular outfielder. Hopefully for Jose it was just a bad year and he really just needs time to heal. People here haven't seen the good Jose for the Knicks. But hey.. don't take my word for it. I know this isn't a big game, small sample size and the competition is mediocre at best... but this is what I mean: (this was a whole 14 months ago.. ish) "winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

Yup...I didn't even think of Pablo as comparison player... and what about Fisher. He was a little bulldog until the day he played his last game. It was always a criticism I had of David Lee. Pau put some serious effort into building up his body, and his brother is much more physically fit than he originally was. Got to make concessions to the aging process. My hope is that he plays well, but that Grant overtakes him before the trade deadline, and some kind of deal is made. ![]() I think Phil and Fish made a point of this to Jose. Can't imagine they didn't press this issue given how fit Fish had always kept himself. Phil said Jose was very apologetic about how things went and I'm assuming he hadn't really come into camp in the best shape possible. If he turns that around and takes it seriously he should have no problem being able to contribute next year.
