Not sure if the plan was to stash him in Europe. I have read a lot of speculation that one of the reasons he was drafted was to help Kristaps' transition to the Knicks next season. It might explain why the Knicks didn't purchase another pick in the second round. Some stats on Kristaps and Hernangomez that were posted by a draftnet poster.

Is he? I read on another board that he has another year on his deal and that he was on loan from Real Madrid. There was no link so you might be right.

Can't do that. That money can only be used in trades. There's a separate rule regarding how much money teams are allowed to use in buyouts but I don't know offhand how much it is.

It's kind of interesting that they were able to make the move without giving up the 3m. I think a trade involving Calderon is coming.
