I think Grant is a top 10 prospect. This was a miraculous deal. I would've taken a mid 2nd for Hardaway!!

I would have taken a pick in the 30s for him. I was really excited about THJ after his rookie year, but that disappeared in a hurry last season. He wasted a terrific opportunity for him personally following the Cleveland trade, instead taking a back seat to Gallo and Shved.

Excited for Grant. Phil is making sure everyone on this roster wants to be here.

Great trade. Phils first trade that was a clear win. Even hawks fans were mad. Usually other teams fans thank us lol

Definitely a great trade. Phil got rid of a player that was struggling in the triangle and flipped him high.

I really like BOTH of our 1st picks, KP and Grant
However, I really like Bobby Portis as well, who I think will be the STEAL of the draft
I think he could become the next Jermaine Oneil and Rasheed Wallace are 2 of my favorite PF/C's in the 90's/early 2000
Especially if we can get Oneil to mentor him, wonder if we would consider trading with Chicago/Houston or another team for CA?
Would be great if we get Jimmy Butler/POrtis/Noah

Maybe the 2nd round pick we made was to assure both Knick fans and KP that we are completely invested in the development of him for our franchise
And he will not be used as a tool to reshape the roster in the short term
As a team mate with KP and a Center, he would have chemistry with him and have a friend with him to go through the process of development/learning a new system/culture/city to go through all together with
He is young like KP, and both have the ability to continue to grow taller, and he does have high IQ
I do think the the Center position is becoming more and more obsolete, along with LEGIT OLD SCHOOL BIGS, which is why I question the pick but think it was more about making KP comfortable to go through this learning process with

We are very much invested in KP already, having a friend to go through this with to help him through this journey...

Teams/GM's/Franchise's HATE us, whether it was because of the attention we get while we suck
We think we can buy our way of anything especially prior to the limit of 3m to spend per year
During the Isiah years, we use money, draft picks, like it was unlimited to acquire whatever we want, while just using money to buy our way back in
And Right now, Phil Jackson is showing the league that we are no different, that we will go through our rebuild phase and SUCK for a couple of years and have to value draft picks/assets, as EVERY OTHER FRANCHISE/GM/ETC....

We are a BIG market team with DEEP POCKETS and despite sucking for the past 15years, we still get the MOST ATTENTION OF ANY TEAM IN THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE WITH CONSISTENCY, along with World Wide Fans
The run with Lin, show cased our fan base and how many Knick fans we have ALL OVER, now if we can put together a team with ALL STARS and actual talent, then putting in a GREAT COACHING staff that can
execute the system, then we will be able to restore order

Despite all the years our roster sucked and the GM's/Coaches/players wanted to go the Knick's, many franchises HATED ON US
Phil Jackson is here to try to repair EVERYTHING and that will take time
We have been trying to do right for our players that we have no intention of resigning or keeping, sending them to GREAT places to be in with the ability to contend, along with doing the right thing for agents

Rookies through these past years, generally rather go to LOSING KNICKS franchise then a team like Philly which will have 100 picks the rate they are going in 2more years
But still with a 15 limit on roster space that could be used...
OK4 couldn't even give a GOOD SMILE as Russell was drafted ahead of him AND he had to go to The Sixers, and would rather go to the Knick's
Especially considering we are running a system that BEST FITS his skill set in a age where SLOW CENTERS are becoming obsolete with more PnR's/Mobility/Athleticism with REBOUNDS/BLOCKS/STEALS and ability to hit FT/mid range is much more important than a LOW POST GAME

Is it worth it and would Philly consider taking Calderon and 2 future 1st rounders for OK4 *which would compliment KP when they are developped together very well*
With that maybe reunite Grant and some lower level cost efficient contracts in our roster like Wroten/Covington, with some future 2nd rounders back?

If we had a decent roster, many decent players would love the idea of going to NYK, though unlikely unless we overpay if we are TRUELY REBUILDING FROM THE BOTTOM UP

I think Phil Jackson has been trying to repair the horrible relationships between the LEAGUE/GM's and AGENTS and The Knick's management/Franchise
He sends ALL of his players in good situations, at some point, teams will return the favor

Last season, one of the earlier moves,
Right from the START, he showed that NYK's are no different than majority of the teams, especially small market teams
By sending 2 draft picks or whatever for Philly to absorb Travis Outlaw's contract

It has been obvious for many years, with our need to overpay for talents in trades, that Teams do not like the Knick's and want to see them fail
Honestly, Atlanta gave us a GIFT for the 3 way trade, and surely could have landed something better than Tim Hardaway JR in this STRONG/DEEP DRAFT, I thought he would be traded for 2 2nd rounders at best
Unless Atlanta gives us their blessing, I will not sign Carroll, Millsap, or Mike Muscula, and look to screw them with poison pills in the future...

I am hoping we get Fuzario next season in the draft that Briggs really likes that withdrew from this draft

Teams like Houston (owns our 2nd rounder) and Denver (1st rounder, unprotected) both own our picks next summer
So they would assist us if they thought a trade that would make us WORSE, like trading CA, would give greater value to the draft picks that they own our rights to

Denver (own the right to swap from CA trade) could be in a rebuilding mode as well
In which we traded the pick for AB, along with 2 2nd rounders, I think this was the trade that really hurt us, I just cannot get over it like the Eddy Curry trade

IF EMBID needs surgery again, Philly could look to send him out for NOTHING, as his 3rd year salary is NOT guaranteed and probably would not cost much, while his salary for this year is $4,626,960

His first year salary was $4,427,640

I do too. Phil got his triangle guard. No real weaknesses other than age. He reminds me of Jrue Holiday and will help, and possibly start, immediately.

I like him a lot as well but I believe Bobby Portis could be a future ALL STAR like Jermaine Oneil for many years, especially if JO mentors him with their almost identical skill set/body type/strengths etc...
And he can contribute right away as a double double threat

I think Holiday is a bit slower than Grant but he really developped his 3pt shot and is a solid defender/rebounder/ and is very strong
Philly surely has a great development staff for PG's, they have done it for Holiday, MCW, Tony Wroten, and even Ish Smith and Isiah Cannon looked decent last season with them

He was HURT exactly after he was traded but at 11m he was also an ALL STAR and that is decent salary...

Reminds me of the year we got Channing Frye with #8 and David Lee with #30.

And Nate at #21.

I was sort of thinking the same thing, actually.

Coincidentally, I was watching the draft with the same group of guys who watched that draft in 2005. Crazy to think that was ten years ago.
