After capturing Sixth Man of the Year honors during the 2014-15 NBA season, unrestricted free-agent shooting guard Lou Williams is eyeing a raise on the open market.

True generators of instant offense are hard to come by in the NBA, so it's no surprise Lou Williams is drawing interest from an array of squads in advance of free agency starting July 1.

According to RealGM's Shams Charania, "Williams is expected to receive strong interest from teams that include the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, providing a clear competition for the Toronto Raptors to retain the NBA’s reigning Sixth Man of the Year."

Charania also notes that Williams "could scan league-wide possibilities of a three-year deal in the range of $27 million or four years for $35 million."

Such a deal would represent an upgrade from the $5.4 million Williams earned in the final year of his deal with the Toronto Raptors, according to Basketball Insiders.

Going off of those projected figures, Williams could make upwards of $9 million annually under the parameters of a deal with one of those big-market franchises.

After the Raptors were swept by the Washington Wizards in the first round of the playoffs, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported that "as long as the Raps can re-sign Williams at a palatable number of his own, it's believed they want him back, as well, no matter how badly they need frontcourt upgrades."

With a shade over $49 million in guarantees on the books for next season, according to Basketball Insiders, the Raptors could afford to bring Williams back—particularly because Kyle Lowry and Patrick Patterson are the only players guaranteed to be under contract when the cap spikes in the summer of 2016.

"[Staying in Toronto] would be ideal for me," Williams said in April, according to TSN's Josh Lewenberg. "Just the culture that they're building here, just the identity that this team and this town has, I really want to be a part of it. I look forward to it. I don't want to say hopefully we get something done, I'm really positive that we will get something done."

A season removed from averaging a career-high 15.5 points and shooting 34 percent from three en route to capturing a nice piece of hardware, expect Williams to entertain myriad offers as clubs jockey for his unique services.

Lou is nice. I was amazed when I realized he's been around 10 years. We need some scoring for sure

Warning, don't look at his playoff numbers..I know some here are sensitive to playoff performances...And at twice the price..Should be fun..

Has to be true...a player or agent would never put out something like this to amp up their value on the market...right?

He had a very bad series for Tor this year I know that.

Poor performance? I can live with. Not caring? That Im quite sensitive about. Anyway... Lou has a good skill set. All this comes after the draft. FA talk is moot until then

I don't know if this is sarcastic or not.....So I'll just wait for somebody else to be the fall guy.

I can see the truth and the joke in that statement!

$9mm seems like a lot but he might be open to a short term deal. He's a good bb player

I think a guy like Lou Williams is a smart guy to target... if we go out of the gate and pitch a guy on the second or third tier I think we have a great chance at signing. Tier 1s aren't signing here

Yeah, this just strikes me as an agent playing the "teams with money and cap room like my guy, so you better pay him" card. Any time the Knicks and Lakers have cap room, they'll be interested in every player in the league.

Lou can score - he can penetrate which is something young Timmy has not learned how to do yet.

I agree all except Gerald Green... I guess I'm holding his early years against him

Why are you against Gerald Green
Decent shooter, 81% free throw shooter, plays SG/SF, high energy guy, can start or come off the bench. Think about this lineup depending on who we draft

Russell or mudiay/Calderon/Shved
Lou Williams/THJR/
Melo/Green/Ledo
Thomas/free agent
R.Lopez/Cole

Calderon/Shved
Lou Williams/THJR
Melo/Green/Ledo
Free agent/free agent
Okafor/Wright

IF we can trade calderon for anyone/anything....do it and free up more cap space.
Shved played more than great for us, beside passing it to an invisible person, but thats MSG jitters

sweet lou is NOT a good player. lol. hes a small streaky shooter
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

he is a better shooter than every knick outside of Jose and Melo so no they do not have that covered, imo.

Over the last two years when I was salivating at the idea of having cap space...Some how Lou Williams and Greg Monroe weren't in my first thoughts of must haves...
