A topic I have not seen posted is if the Knicks can somehow add another first round pick.
I have seen rumors of some teams looking to shed bad contracts and offering their 1st round picks. Charlotte was the first for taking on Lance and of course now is not an option. Other teams were Miami at 10, OKC at 14, Boston at 16.
In my opinion I think Phil should be doing everything in his power to get another first. This draft is loaded with talent throughout and high upside guys, the cap space is there and with no first next year it really helps the long term re-build of the organization.
My thought is you can really put the team going in the right direction if you hit on both picks. The dream scenario is based on DraftExpress' latest mock with Russell falling to the Knicks at 4. If you can then add someone along the lines of Stanley Johnson, Myles Turner, Frank Kaminsky, Lyles, or if Hezonga is there. The alternate is my choice at 4 WCS then complimenting that with a Stanley Johnson, Jerian Grant, Cameron Payne.
Putting two young building blocks with Melo and what appears to be the inevitable signing of Monroe fills both being competitive now and a long term future.
I wanted to see everyone's opinion on making such a move and any preferred trade partners. For me OKC seems like a good match as one of the names brought up for them to be unloading was Jeremy Lamb who I think could be a solid role player in the right situation I just feel like he has never really had the chance in OKC and at 14 there still would be a talented player available.
