Has fallen behind on his recovery timetable. There is an issue in his healing process. Another procedure can further sidline him a good amount.

Makes you wonder if they're further looking into taking Porzingis, and if Russell drops to 4th.

It's possible they are putting out/leaking this info to subdue fan reaction for when/if they pick a big

If Okafor is available, they will select him over Russell; which will open the door for the Knicks to select the next Curry. Although Stein is my real pick with the forth pick, but not if Russell is also available.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

I'm back to thinking the Lakers will take Okafor... which would leave the Sixers to choose between Russell and Porzingis.

I have a feeling they'll still go Russell, but who knows.

Thought I read something that he was not going to have another surgery done, too.

Can't count on this guy at all, at this point.

Pretty terrible.

I agree that we might get Russell because Porzingis has been linked to Hinkie.

LA will decide everything, though, because Philly probably takes OK4 if he is there-he is closer to what Embiid is as a player.

The other variable is Dario Saric-they are still attempting to buy out his Turkish (I think) contract. If they get him and believe that Embiid actually will be a viable starter, they can then take Russell, who might be their real love.

Not bad from where I am sitting.

Ok4 and Russell are in play, a favorite of mine-Porzingus- might available, and we have trade-down potential with Orlando, who really wanted Porzingus last year, and might deal with us if he is available.

Things are looking better and better.

Apparently things haven't been going well between Embiid and the Sixers.

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-foot-that-ate-philadelphia-joel-embiids-setback-and-what-it-means-for-the-sixers/

Recovery from this surgery typically takes five to eight months, but the Sixers exercised caution and held Embiid out for the entire 2014-15 season. Throughout the first half of 2015, the news about Embiid was bad, including missed rehab appointments, fines accrued, and a blowup with the Sixers training staff.

So, with that in mind, the Sixers are no better or worse off than they were before this Embiid news broke. There isn’t a “there” there yet. It’s hard to imagine Embiid’s injury particularly impacting Hinkie’s draft strategy. The Sixers are still in Best-Available country. If the Lakers take D’Angelo Russell with the second pick, and Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor is still on the board, the Sixers will probably take one of the big men, despite the presence of Noel and Embiid. An asset is an asset. By that same token, Hinkie will not be scared off from taking projects like Emmanuel Mudiay or Kristaps Porzingis just because some want him to put a better product on the floor this October. He has not made a single decision that suggests he cares about any timeline but his own. That might actually cost him his job before he gets to see it through, or maybe the Sixers ownership group really is committed to a radically transparent rebuild, with the ultimate goal of winning an NBA title, and the owners are going to trust Hinkie through as many burned first-round picks as he needs to make to get them there.

Read something about Embiid too at the time, and saw a picture of him looking heavy.

Yeah...I think Dolan is following this same kind of slow and steady rebuild...

...Can you imagine Knicks fans dealing with a GMs personal timeline. What's transparent is that Hinkie does not seem to be in a rush. Wait till all of his #1s eventually run from this team.

An asset is an asset, but a loss is a loss, and a win is a win.

If the GM was open about his strategy, and the strategy appeared to be sound, I believe that Knick fans would be patient. The worst GMs we've had were overly secretive (thank Dolan for that) and their strategy, very unsound.

Yeah, a slow and steady Sixer rebuild...stockpile picks for 5 to 10 years and get players that you trade away or get rid of and wait for the rest of the league to collapse.

I'd rather be a Knick fan.

Philly doesn't have a great plan in my opinion. Hinkie, however, is an absolutely genius as he has sold the ownership and fan base a plan that conveniently affords him what feels like unlimited job security in a league where there is no such thing. He has looked out for himself first and foremost, no question about it. But as for his plan, just because it's more drastic than most, doesn't mean it's better. A team who does a quick rebuild has essentially the same odds at putting together a deep playoff run than he does with this plan.

Philly is all into analytics which Im not a big supporter of.
To understand them a bit better you might want to know the owner is a hedge fund owner who is all about analytics and the formula for what they are doing is a bit different from traditional team building.
They are going deep value but the the element of injury is not something you can always see. They took Norlens and Embiid as deep value plays. That they traded teh Williams kid shows a dicipline to a formula and in time a methodical approach does work out. Problem is they are bit behind shedule.

I get what they are doing but really have no clarity to the complete nature of how they are making their decisions.

They are stockpiling assets which is an interesting play. Hinkie has full support of his owner.
Im no fan or detractor of what they are doing but find it intersting.

At the same time PHil is going full Triangle, or what every he calls it and it too might take some time or understanding. WE really can't say a thing for a few yeas until we can see in hindsight the benefit of these moves.
