That team is going to be really good. Have to think they'll re-sign Khris Middleton.

But if they sign him second, can they go over the cap to get him and then sign someone else first?

Also, Wojo noting that Ilyasova is basically Detroit admitting they know Monroe is gone in FA.

I think Ilyasova and Drummond could be an interesting front court pairing. They have a major hole at SF though. I wonder if they'll go for Stanley Johnson in the draft. DX has Hezonja going there which would make sense.

Big question to me about the Pistons - do they keep Brandon Jennings AND Reggie Jackson?

Jennings only has one year left and he's relatively cheap at $8M.

I don't know who'd want him though. Maybe Dallas?

They got to be able to match Middleton to a Max contract. Now they can match a Max offer and not go into the Luxury Tax.

SVG trying to recreate the Magic with Drummond instead of Dwight Howard.

On the plus minus side, I get this makes signing Monroe more likely.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Key to playing the space and pace game is having an athletic center who can guard the middle. One reason I still like Stein. You need a center who can defend the pick and roll in today's NBA.

Actually Monroe makes a lot of sense for the knicks and if he is the future I'm not mad. He might be the best second scorer the knicks could put next to Melo besides M. Gasol and LMA. Monroe operates at different spots on the court from Melo, and the threat of his offense keeps opposing centers glued to him and keeps them from Doubling Melo. The same goes for Melo helping Monroe. Melo will draw PF's away from the paint and give Monroe better spacing to post up. Plus they are both good enough passers to create a two man game or pass to shooters on the perimeter. Defensively you got to hope they both can hold their own on a man defense level and more importantly grab rebounds. Surround them with some D&3 players (possibly Winslow, Galloway, Carroll, of Danny Green) and a switch in offense on the bench who can create his own shot when the defense forces them to iso (Shved) and you got a good space and pace half court team.

Yeah, you have to think that's the plan - or something close to it. That'd be a fun and good team. Not winning a championship any time soon, but a good team.

I have always liked Butler. Not sure how much he has left but if he is waived he might be a good pick up. He has taken on a leadership role with the teams he has played with and could help the Knicks in that department. The Bucks may want to keep him though.

So you have no issue with Melo at the 4 and Monroe at the 5 on defense?

Exactly. Good news for kaminsky lovers, one less team we have to worry about and potentially another one we can involve in a trade.

He's got a serious injury. Torn ACL? Achilles? Something like that. I'm not even sure he's due back til AFTER this season.

The Garden might as well put down a red carpet down the center of the key for all the opposing players to take directly to the hole.
