The Wolves don't seem to be completely enarmored with Karl Anthony Towns at 1 and might consider trading down. Rumors have already been swirling about Flip Sanders being high on KrisP, so maybe we should liquidate Melo's value and combine some of it with our 4th pick to move up. I'd do a three way deal with the Nets and Heat with the intention of doing exactly that:

STEP I

Nets Trade: Joe Johnson and their 29th pick
Nets Receive: Loul Deng, Mario Chalmers and a $12 million trade exception (along with $48 million in saved money from the luxury tax and payroll reduction)

Heat Trade: Loul Deng, Mario Chalmers, Shabazz Napier, Josh McRoberts, Michael Beasley (sign and trade to make salaries work), their 10th and 40th picks
Heat Receive: Carmelo Anthony and Jose Calderon

Knicks Trade: Carmelo Anthony and Jose Calderon
Knicks Receive: Joe Johnson, Josh McRoberts, Shabazz Napier, Michael Beasley, the 10th, 29th and 40th picks.

STEP II
With the 4th and 10th picks in tow, I'd attempt to package them to the Wolves for their 1st, 31st and 36th picks. Consensus opinion is that Karl Towns is the best player in this draft, even though I strongly disagree. I think that people have grown so accustomed to big men sucking, that the slightest hint of skill in one will send scouts into a frenzy. I do believe that Towns will have a long and serviceable career but doubt he'll be the star that everyone assumes. But like I said, Towns will be no.1 regardless of who is doing the picking.

As for the rest of my offseason, I'd use Josh McRoberts as well as the 36th and 40th picks to acquire David Lee and Golden State's 30th. GS will be looking to move Lee in the offseason to soften their luxury tax bill, so I could see them making the deal to do just that and still remain competitive with a capable bench player like Roberts. From our perspective, the deal would give us a starter and a guy who can help us make things interesting post-Melo. The move would effectively leave us with $15 million in cap space.

Using that $15 million in cap space, I'd assume Gerald Wallace's $11 million contract to then acquire Boston's 28th and 33rd picks. The Celtics are going to be looking to get some cap space to make a move for free agents, which makes Wallace and the pick both expendable.

With approximately $4 million in cap space, the 31st and 33rd picks I'd make a deal with the Mavericks to re-acquire Raymond Felton (who I'd waive immediately), Dwight Powell and their 21st pick. Like the Celtics, the Mavs are looking to offload salary and lessen their financial commitments to be players on the free agent market. This trade allows them to do that by dumping guaranteed money in Felton, Powell and a 1st round pick in exchange for 2nd rounders that require no cap holds or structured, guaranteed contracts.

I'd try to make yet another trade with the Bucks to see if I could move up to still select Jerian Grant in the draft. Maybe the 21st, 30th and cash could get us their 17th. As to who I'd draft with the other picks....

1st: Karl Anthony Towns
17th: Jerian Grant
28th: Danilo Fuzaro
29th: Jordan Mickey

*With my $4 million cap exception, I'd sign Alexis Ajinca

STARTERS
PG: Jerian Grant
SG: Tim Hardaway Jr
SF: Joe Johnson
PF: David Lee
C: Karl Anthony Towns

ROTATION
PG: Shabazz Napier
G: Danilo Fuzaro
SF: Lance Thomas
F: Jordan Mickey
C: Alexis Ajinca

BENCH
G: Alexey Shved
G: Langston Galloway
F: Gerald Wallace
F: Dwight Powell
F/C: Lou Amundson

Or they pick Towns, their true love, OK4 falls to us, we then work out a trade with them and weep for joy
