Isiah I think is shoping KT in many ways, one of which is chasing Crawford with KT as the first bait. That brings other suiters for KT to the table with offers. If he can find somthing, thats cool. If he can package KT with an ending deal for another Big, even better.

But if the days of bringing in big names for the attendence buzz (only)is over, so be it. We can be competitive and rebuild over time. We must get under the cap at some time if we want free agents, but even more important we must develope kids even if it means using them for future trades. I admire what Cube is doing in Dallas even more. It looked like he was going to spiral into absurd payroll but has taken measures to get younger and slowly restock his roster. Losing Nash opens up opportunity for Dallas going forward.

On the surface, big deals can hurt long term. Isiah will have a tough job ahead keeping a balance of being competitive and building up new assets.

If he wants to get Swift for KT and an expiring deal, that makes sense. If he thinks Sweets is ready for prime time, then KT for an ending deal and a draft pick is not going to pay off this year, but its an asset.

cuban is good but let's remember that he got lucky with marquis daniels falling to him in the draft and has still not addressed his center situation (after 3 years). so cuban let nash walk b/c the deal he was offered was riduclous. and cuban is guilty for what you call "starphucking" as well. just look at the names of the players he acquired - van exel, walker, jamison, stackhouse, finley...etc. not to mention he was also the guy that brought back rodman.

as far as kurt for crawford. if that is the deal, and i think it'll probably end up being nazr instead of kurt, but if it is kurt and crawford then this is a type of divac for kobe move. of course, it's at a much smaller scale, but it's trading a big man veteran for a young guard. and if this trade is made, then isiah knows that either sweetney is ready or we can sign someone to play the start PF (even if it's vin baker).

Luck: When opportunity and preparation collide!

Fiscal responsabilty can create luck. I'd rather be able to pounce on opportunity than force the issue.

Starphucker Dolan was scared to lose allan, and wanted To luck out with Dice. He forced that one (luck) and it blew up.

Cube Starphucks, but he also unwinds it. He dumped Van Exel and Jamison and I doubt he is done either. He is also building a base with 3 blue chips in 2 years, and the flex to keep them.
