6 years 30 mm not bad for rafer, but the raptors are out of their minds--they couldnt find a better player for that kind of $$$$$$ they could gave bobby sura 2 years 10mm$ and saved the $$$$

this is why despite all the "brilliant" cap moves by gm's that people like chad ford laud, you still need to know what the fcuk to do with that money. this is disgusting and this is why teams scuk for decades.

you know, now with rafer in toronto, do you think maybe we can do some sort of frank for caron butler type deal with miami? this now allows us to move tim thomas for crawford and jyd.

you could easily see these things coming--there were 17 teams below the MLE threshold--with some teams like utah and atlanta who had enough money for 2+ max contracts.
way to much money with not enough players. and this is a business about WINNING you cant have a 50mm $ payroll like the raptors have and except losing--so increasing payroll 3.5% makes sense for them if they believe the player gives them a more realistic chance to help them win games. personally i think they couldve gone elsewhere and executed better and cheaper

It would be a good signing if it were like 20 mm, but 30 is a lot for Rafer. He has been in the league for awhile and he hasn't done a lot. He's got some talent though, and maybe he can help them win a little, but I am not so sure. Again, he hasn't done much, so maybe they have a system which will be good for him. He seemed to do alright in Miami.

I would rather pluck someone out of the NBDL and give them a chance than spend this kind of money on this kind of player.

In three years, Toronto will think what the heck did they do.

And, what does this mean for the asking price of someone like Jamal Crawford?

And what should Kobe get?

This is exactly what I have been saying, stupid contracts like the ones Alston and Foyle are getting are reasons why Craw will no longer take the MLE (and Dampier will not sign for the MLE at all anymore). Enough about Craw though, I think Alston is a good pickup for Toronto because they desperately needed a PG. However, Rafer definitely doesn't deserve that type of contract. Last year was his only decent year and he isn't really that young either (I think he his 28 or 29). I don't see the logic of giving him a 6 year deal, but, w/e. It will be interesting to see what the Heat do now that Alston is gone, I wouldn't be suprised if they went hard after Crawford.

this is not a bad idea at all, though I doubt miami and the knicks could be trade partners.

what does this say about the value of Frank Williams?

I'm sorry but sure, Alston had a good year- but he reminds me of Chris Childs- out of the CBA, he had one good year with the Nets- and bingo, big contract and he followed up his signing with some good years, but nowhere at the level that he signed his contract at.

And what about Moochie Norris? He is a downright bargain with his contract. Toronto should have called us- we could have saved them some money!

true, inter-division trades hardly ever happen but it's not like there's bad blood anymore, especially with layden, checketts, and grunfeld all gone. it's about isiah and riley so if they wanted to, they should be able to discuss it.

Raptors did well. The East is improving. Most teams are doing things to improve and isiah just sitting around BS'ing about how he loves his team. Sounds like laydumb now.

Is rafer that much better than Alvin Williams?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
