I actually think the Triangle would be good for Ellis. There is structure but it's not about the coach constantly calling the play. For the scoring guard he has very simple decisions to make. He's often in the 2 man game or moving up top for catch and shoot looks. In the 2 man game he's either feeding and cutting, where he might get the ball back on the way to the basket or he can setup a PnR. He can cut inside or outside of his partner. It's all very quick and simple. This is why Shved did so well in that role.
The writer is almost like one of us but he has a column- no actual rumors in this article. The article is also 2 months old, and we haven't heard any rumors about Ellis.
The Triangle might give him opportunities for midrange shots instead of the 3's he misses on a pretty regular basis when he takes them, and any system which allows him to get to the basket will help his game.
I know he gets a good number of steals, but am not sure of his defensive reputation, though the writer considers him to be a good perimeter defender.
Bringing him on would be Jackson's choice, of course, but I would actually go to Anthony on this to get his thoughts on the matter. Carmelo is in a "win now" stage of his life- I actually believe he would give a pretty honest player's assessment of Ellis.
Fisher has played against him, too. He might even give a better assessment of his game and whether or not he wants to coach him.
