I'm sure Briggs will get to you soon.
I remember watching him at UCon and never understood the hype. Few instincts as a player. No lateral movement. Didn't he start the game later in life?
I blame his coaching a little bit, but it's also on him. He should have been working on a few go to moves down low to the point where they became automatic. A hook, a short turnaround using the backboard. He did not need to do that much to be valuable on offense.
I know you remember Henry Finkel, even he was able to carve out a small role on some good teams.
Blocking out for rebounds- not something he did/does well. He also does not have the greatest nose the ball after a missed shot. He can block shots, but will also pick up a lot of fouls against decent big men.
One way to evaluate a big man as tall as Thabeet is to imagine what they would look like if they were smaller- maybe 6'8, and if he played the same way he does now (and then) at the smaller height he would not have been drafted and probably would not be playing the game anymore, IMO.
Still, I would invite him to SL and see what is there. Can't hurt, but what aspect of his present game would Phil be interested in?
EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?
