While Vince Hunter showcased his potential on the offensive end, Jordan Mickey was absolutely tremendous as a defensive performer, whether it would be working as an on-ball defender or just sticking inside and waiting for an opponent to cut right at him. With his tremendous 7'3 wingspan, Mickey is able to defend against both guards and front-court player. As well, he did a great job on the offensive end, as he continued to show off his improved mid-range jumper.

Mickey was able to maintain his strong defensive performance in Friday's scrimmage, as he had four blocks in 27 minutes. As well, he displayed a developing mid-range jumper as he spread out and hit a few 20-foot jumpers over the course of that game.

My thesis on watching Mickey and why I think he will be a first team all defensive NBA player who should come at a big discount. I talked about Wood and Mickey for most of the year. I still like Wood longer term but for our team I just love the potential of Mickey. Ive described him as as a turbo version of Taj Gibson but his offensive upside is higher than Taj. Just like the above mentioned I believe he is a guy who can actually defend all 5 positions and what i would like to see is him ultimately end up at the three after he expands his shooting range and handle at 6-8 245(and he appears very lean) he IS the most agile athlete in this draft above 240 pounds. He plays long hes a natural shotblocker and I am convinced that these skills will translate over to the NBA--But I see his upside on defense as a guy who I can throw wherever I want--where ever the need is--that he can play a position-less spot and that if we can draft Kaminsky and Fuzaro Mickey by drafting down that ALL 3 in the next 3 years will be "the core" of a new team that will help the Knicks win big for a decade. Will this happen hmm not likely a lot of ducks would have to line up AND the Knicks probably dont agree with me. These three players to me represent a "combination" of the skill players the Spurs and Warriors have. Im accepting taking Monroe for the next 2-3 years(on a 4 years deal) to try and help:melos crew " win but the reality is being competitive. The real deal is the team we build underneath But we will keep an open eye to Monroe to see if he can be part of the new Knicks. In my theory each player can have just as much effectiveness to the team on offense that it does on defense. You can have off scale balance--but as long asthe collective 5 play in a defensive unison that what makes a great defensive team. And the other end the same holds true--no weak points on the offense--no one to key hard to strategize against 2-3 all players mobile with the ball good passers and all can shoot drive and pass.

There's nothing wrong with your premise for why you want these players. The skills they have would be useful to the team if they all managed to actually perform as hoped in the NBA. The problem is that it's a difficult plan to actually execute. We don't have to jump thru that many hoops to achieve a similar result. Phil isn't looking to add 3 rookies with a questionable chance to succeed in the NBA. He wants more known quantities. His view is to let other teams experiment and develop a team full of rookies. He wants some youth but also some vets that he knows can produce at a high level and that he can depend on.

Phil isn't going rookie shopping, until after the draft or during the NBDL season. But you never know, he could buy into the second round and try to snatch somebody that fell. With the influx of Euro players, there will be a lot of great talent in the 2nd round, hidden between the surrounding bums. I would like to see him doing what the Giants did, when they traded up to snatch a 1st rounder who fell to the 2nd round. The safety from Alabama. That was a quality move that's paying off as we speak.

I have no problem with Phil adding more young talent. I just know that he's not looking to replicate the Sixers. He's always gonna be willing to bring in young talent but he's also going to have some vets that will be able to carry the bulk of the load along with Melo. He'll want the kids to fill in. So if he finds a way to add some young talent fine. I just don't think we'll see anything as spectacular as the moves BRIGGS proposed. I think that would be hard to accomplish.

I think he'll stick with his #4 pick and make a smaller deal to add another pick if he sees someone he likes. Who knows maybe he has a plan already in the works to land another 1st rd. pick.

Briggs, I agree with you that this guy is the best defensive player in this draft. If OKC gave us the 14th pick
if we take back Novak and Waiters(close to 9mil in capspace) would you pick him there or would you take Kaminsky.
I think this kid would be a great fit if we sign Monroe. He would be an upgrade over Quincy Acy, Lance Thomas,
Jason Smith, Lou Admundson on defense alone. Now I know you want multiple picks but I dont think Phil is going
to trade down. So do you pick a first team all defensive NBA player who should come at a big discount or ...
Kaminsky

Mickey has potential but his knowledge of the game has to improve. He needs to become a better passer and extend his range beyond the arch. Once he extend his range he can then use his quickness and agility to drive to the whole. He needs a good year in the DL but I would draft him with a late 1 early 2 no doubt.

So we would trade what could be a franchise star player with our 4th pick for the chance to draft 3 players with question marks on if they can be NBA players and if they do they're most likely bench players?? Hmmmmmmmmmm let me think let me think...........I'm gonna go with a big fat NO on this one but thanks for trying.

mickey's defense alone is worthy of first rd... his offense needs a lot of work.. but his work on the pnr alone will keep him in the league until he does...

Which guy is a franchise player? Is there one at 4 can you let me in on it? Which player at 4 does not have question marks?

Hope Mudiay is there with the 4th pick. Would not be surprised if Sixer took him.
