Quote the Nets with picks 29 and 41 are actively seeking an additional pick for the 2015 draft. Want to resign both Thad Young and Lopez and hope to build around their young players bogdanvich Brown and Kaserov also sounds like they are getting rid of Joe Johnson and Williams

Good luck with getting rid of Johnson, Williams and acquiring more picks. I thought they did well getting Markel Brown last year though.

Hell...they'll have to give up picks with Johnson and Williams to get rid of them.

Can Johnson still defend his position? If so, I'd consider taking a rental on him if something catastrophic happens and no one takes our money.

Iso Joe in the triangle is not a bad concept as the man can shoot. Off the bench might be a good idea.
We have cap space but the reality is Nets have to put a sweetener in there to take the contract.

He definitely earned that title with the Hawks but I think he is skilled enough to play well within a team concept. After all, he first made his bones in this league by playing in a free flow offense with the Suns.

If the Nets were willing to take back Jose Calderon and give up the 29th pick, I'd be more than willing to take that extra year of Joe's contract. That price might sound steep but between Joe's $23 million and the first round pick, the Nets will have effectively saved $45 million in luxury tax and another $18 million on the salary differential. Prohokrov's money is long but there has been rumors that those international sanctions have hit him hard, prompting him to contemplate putting a significant portion of his ownership up for sale. If that is true, I'd have to believe that $63 million will matter to him.

The Post article says in the letter they sent out:
They mentioned their two draft picks — Nos. 29 and 41 — and a desire in “purchasing" another pick.

So they are down to buying a second round pick (which the Knicks also want to do, I would think).

Couldn't they do better at the trade deadline if they want to deal Johnson? The right team might emerge during the season and Johnson could provide a boost with some good play inspired by the fact that he will soon be looking for a new contract.

His salary is a 1 year cap killer, I would think. Most competing team who might only want him for a year won't have the room for him cap-wise, and if you are rebuilding, why take on a guy who is done in a year and wants a new contract?

Don't know what you do with Williams. He needs the right team/system, as well as cap space.

In both situations, any teams taking these guys on are going to want more than a sweetener...they will need to be bathed in honey.

You also have to think that the Russian might also want to include Billy King as an add on in one of these trades...
