What's a realistic trade down scenario for Kaminsky in say the picks 7-11 range? Is there one? The appeal of Kaminsky over Stein would be theoretically trading down and getting another asset of some kind.

Time for a "the case for Kaminsky thread', methinks.
My main issue with him, is if you draft him, you'd better pray we sign Gasol, because otherwise I don't see how you build a team thats good enough defensively to make the playoffs. |

I will say I don't know how anyone could look at Kaminsky and look at Porzingis and come away wanting Porzingis more.

One thing I will say, all these threads have made me even more indecisive about who we draft- just when I think I've gotten a clearer idea of who to draft, another scouting video comes along.

You'd get either a pick next season (which would actually mean we're not locked out of the draft) AND an extra $1mil to spend on free agency, or a cast off player (which would mean less cap space). Realistically, I think the Pistons would sign Kaminsky (gives them much need shooting and a nice fit next to Drummond- see SVG success with Dwight and Ryan Anderson), so you can't trade lower than the 8th spot. Realistically that only leaves Denver as potential trade partner as they are about to go full rebuild, so may offer a player on their roster (they also have multiple picks but I doubt they shift them. They want rid of Lawson, so they may be interested in drafting Mudiay. |

While Porzingis has a higher plateau Tell me why Frank Kaminsky can't be a great player and at the same time a much safer bet. Are we going to get an nba player in free agency who is better than Frank Kaminsky? in some ways Frank might be the only truly polished complete player in the lottery. Also on that quick little snippet testing athletic ability with the dunks he looks more than fine for a 7-1 guy. I suggested taking Kaminsky 4 on realgm and I think people really wanted to reach through the computer and punch me.But the reality is he is very likely the best choice if you add everything up. I like Kaminsky. I think he's going to have a good NBA career. I don't see him as a Knick without a trade for the #4 pick tho. It's not that Kaminsky isn't a good player just that you could get him lower than #4 so that's what i'd expect to happen if they drafted Kaminsky.

My first pick after learning we picked 4 was Kaminsky he's a guy I've been fully solid on. We haven't been in the lottery in years and there multiple choices so just like buying a car or house you shop a bit. Some houses are fancy cost more have some more features and you start thinking wow yet the whole time that first house you looked at with all the basics was really the best choice. Frank is the most under rated player in the top 20 RIP Crushalot😞

Kaminsky has the thing I tend to look for in a player I want to draft - I saw him play live and I was very impressed and could see his game translating to the NBA with relative ease. For guys in this draft more or less in our range that list is: D'Angelo Russell, Karl Towns, Okafor, WCS, Winslow, Kaminsky, Stanley Johnson. In the end, I would be okay with any of those players. Though my current preference is definitely WCS... though I reserve the right to completely change my mind!

Defense- WCS makes more sense for them I like Kaminsky but as well as my defense & team building worries, there's also risk that he has a Channing Frye style career trajectory, where he'd have a good impressive rookie season (with good shooting), but then fail to improve. |

I see Sacramento snapping up WCS to fit perfectly next to Cousins at 6. I don't think Stein falls lower than sixth. ¿ △ ?

But Kaminsky may be the best pure shooter of the lotto picks - he's at least second best behind Russell. His ability to stretch to the three point line would give Melo and possibly Monroe a ton of space. ¿ △ ?

The first question I'd ask willie is why did you score 2 points and grab 5 rebounds in the most important game of your life? I went back and looked at some high draft pick future nba star type players and I could not find 1 who flopped that badly. Why wouldn't stein clog cousins space? RIP Crushalot😞

I think for this draft, it's ok to reach for who you want at pick #4. I asked you the same question, but never got an answer. Whats the difference between Porzingis and Kaminsky? If Porzingis is worth selecting at #4, why not Kaminsky? Also, you don't need or want an entire team of players around Melo to be defensive players. You need players that can play both sides. Kaminsky plays positional defense....He's a smart player. He's also 21 years old and far from looking like an NBA superstar. Same with WCS..... So do you pick a player that's already mature and ready to impact now.... Or do you pick a player that's 2-3 years younger, still growing, and still has potential to be an NBA superstar? I believe Phil will swing for a superstar at pick #4 and build through free agency. Or trade pick #4 and pick up a WCS / Kaminsky type.....A mature player ready to contribute. Or trade for a veteran player or two (Lawson / Cousins). At this point, I'm sold on all the picks with potential....and picks ready to impact now! This is the best position to be in for the franchise, but the worse position to be in for a Rookie GM. Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland.
The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!
