With the NBA no longer placing value on NBA veterans as mentors in addition to 1 and dones that lack fundamentals and maturity, having a strong locker room presence, culture, development coaches, trainers, assistant coaches, and the Head Coach/GM working together with the above is very important
With the draft approaching and the #4 pick, we should consider the work ethic/ability to take critisism/BB IQ/and finding the right combination of the above working together, especially with lack of "leadership" and quality development coaches/trainers, forgot his name but he left MSG and joined Atlanta, he also worked with Jeremy Lin while he was here
With the evidence of talents that we were unable to FIT IN TOGETHER while they were on our team that are now in the Western and Eastern Conference Finals
I have concerns of drafting Winslow who I think would fit better next to Lebron James like Iman, along with teams like Chicago, Spur's, with Jimmy Butler or Kawaii Leanard, along with their Centers and philosphies as a team that are established already with a strong foundation, locker room presence, and a coach/system/chemistry already set
However, who do we have to pair with Winslow here?
Regardless of who we draft, we must improve our development staff and trainers
Honestly even if we did draft Kawaii or Jimmy Butler, would they develop to the players they are now with our staff and lack of leaders/true veterans?
Ariza was a player that we couldn't untapp his potential and he could have easily been playing oversea's or become a journey vet in player had he not developped with The Laker's with his versatility on OFF/DEF and 3pt shooting
That was the main reason in targetting a talent like Draymond Green, with his ability to defend multiple positions and being able to mentor/teach our young guys how to play as a team and defend as he knows how to defend Guards, F's, and Centers, and how to move without the ball, utilize screens on and off the ball, making timely cuts, playing as a team, in addition to his leadership, high motor/work ethic, locker room presence, pass his fundamentals/communication skills, and everything he does on the court, would instantly become a fan and coach's favorite here
Below are some trainers that I we should probably look to acquire, along with former players that have defended the players of the league recently and have the respect/skills to do so with experience/leadership/defense like
Some of which are creditted to Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, Brandon Knight, Evan Turner
After missing out on KAT and OK4, if Mudiay/Russell does reach his John Wall/Curry ceiling it wouldn't be such a bad thing
With Alex Ajinicia, he has comparable upside to KAT and could certainly be considered as UFA, with our need at Center, especially if we can sign him without overpaying and offering him a possible starting job
Think he is worth at least the FULL MLE type money, maybe a bit more, between a backup BIG and STARTER
However, if we can get him for even less, it would be even better, with some other backups to look at including Koufus and Lavoy Allen for cap friendly contracts on 2year deals
Some possible former player/develpment coaches include some of the past Triangle successors and below
Billups *he is one of the most under rated leaders and clutch shooters, that mixed his ability to shoot up and facilitating first up without TOP NOTCH physical abilities*
Rasheed Wallace *think he could help develop many players but players that can POST and shoot the 3pter, and defend, like Kaminski*
Jermaine Oneil *especially if we are able to somehow draft Bobby Portis*
Battier for defense and adjusting to different roles/players/team after being a STAR in college, think he would help Thanasis along with Pippen
