With the 55th pick in the NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select George de Paula, point guard, Brazil.

An interesting guy even if he's nowhere near ready to play in the NBA. He has good size, 6'6" and 200 pounds with a 7' wingspan and 8'8" standing reach; supposedly has huge hands. Has good not great athleticism. Great handle and has a lot of moves with the ball in his hands but is also turnover prone. Seems to have good court vision. Can't shoot and his mechanics are all ****ed up; I'm hoping that it's fixable. Ideally, he'll be stashed overseas for a couple of years and have a chance to work on some of his weaknesses. A lot of upside and if he's able to reach it SA could have a special player.

Thanks for organizing it. It was a lot of fun. Wish the draft was tonight instead of next Thursday.

Yeah I wrote it down as Atkins then Gray and just wrote it wrong. I think both guys at 55-60 are good picks. But in my haste I just wrote the wrong guy--but this was the correct way I wrote it down. Atkins was ACC defensive player of the year and a real stalwart at PIT. His per avg production was also very high on either the best or 2nd best defensive team. Gray has a vertical of 37 inches at 6-10

Shit, really? I wasn't able to find him on draft express' mock draft anymore but I couldn't find anything that said he had pulled out.
