If we land a top 2 pick, what would you prefer to do?
Select Karl-Anthony Towns
Select Jahlil Okafor
Trade down to select DeAngelo Russell and acquire Gorgui Dieng

I selected OK4 but in a few days I might swing back to Towns. I would be happy with either one.

I definitely prefer the Russell-Dieng combo above all else. Of all the top players in the draft, I think that Russell is easily the most suited for the triangle and plays a position that is pivotal to contending for a title. Yes, it's hard to pass up the promise of a big but that regret could be blunted a bit by Gorgui Dieng who figures to be a nightly double-double player that can protect the rim, hit jump shots and pass from the high post. As far as bigs are concerned, he is the prototype for what the triangle calls for and more.

I think that at this point unless I hear something ground -breaking

Id take

#1 Towns
#2 Okafor
#3 Russell

at 4 and 5 Id still have 5 weeks to think about it and listen to news and workout reviews.

I might not keep Russell but the compensation would have to mirror the Webber trade if I did not. As in drop down to 5-6-7-8 grab Kaminsky and add 3 #1's with no restriction. I consider Russell a 1 being picked at 2 or 3 and the only true comp is the Webber trade compensation and not a dime less.

""Everything went according to plan at first. Orlando took Webber as No. 1 and Magic fans were salivating about the possibilities of him balling with Shaq. Within minutes, Webber was traded to the Golden State Warriors for Hardaway (3rd pick) and three future first-round picks

towns is the number one pick but I hope that we get russell.

No you need a superstar guard which these guys are not. When in doubt go big

I'm torn between the two. If we win the #1 pick, I take Towns and don't look back. Not sure I'd be able to pull the trigger on a deal shipping him out.
Ultimately I might prefer Russell, but size is tough to turn down.

I've got both over Okafor. Just was never really blown away by him in the handful of games I saw against SU and in the tournament.

It all depends on who is drafting no one really knows the order of draft. I can see the Sixers taking Russell or Mudiay as their needs are different from other teams. I can see T Wolves taking Towns with the first pick or Second pick. If Sixers pick 1 it could be a PG/SG Russell or Mudiay. I can see the Wolves taking Towns as he probably more a pf than a center and they have centers. I see Okafor fitting the Knicks needs better than any player in the draft. I can see the Knicks taking Mudiay as the need for a slashing pg/sg role thrives in the triangle offense.

Needs of the team will come into play.

I agree, as much as I don't like CO s on the court attitude I think Russell has that same kind of edge. He is going to be upset if he is not the 1st pick and I like that.

Plus if you can get Russell and Dieng you do that all day. Dieng is a better than most know/think. The cherry on top would be if they would do a Martin/Calderon swap.

Vmart--its VERY close with Okafor and Towns--Id like to see Okafor with his weight loss play I mean he looks great. VERY hard to pick out of those 2.

I don't think its that close. For me it's Okafor I have seen enough to know that Okafor's offense is just to well refined to pass up. I don't have an issue with his defense he played it as his coach wanted him to play. Stay out of foul trouble and be on the floor. If Okafor was on Kentucky he would have played a different style of defense. With the weight loss it only makes him better. Don't let these draft boards fool. They kill Okafor for defense, did you see the West Virgina game that Towns had. Once the process is over its draft time and team needs taken into consideration the safe and proper choice will be Okafor for the Knicks.

I was about to say no team would give up 3 future first round picks- that is something teams did back when stupid stuff happened with basketball.

Then I thought that sure sounds like a Knick's deal!

If we get the 5th pick I'd trade for Shabazz, Pekovic and a future 1st.

I'd be happy with OK4, but I'm fed up of watching us play crap defense, so I just want us to get the number 1 pick so we can get Towns. Last month was hell for me, caring for my dad at home while he died of leukemia- I need some good news escapism.
