to BRIGGS, RonRon and anyone else who follows these combines:

please tell me:
- what you look for in these drills?
- what are good measurements (relative to height)?
- if i could measure hustle and determination id love to
- are there any type of IQ tests? (kinda like the wunderlick?)

as you watch, please post your thoughts and impressions

THANKS

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

They are going to be doing 5 on 5 drills for the first time in years which is awesome. Don't know who is participating.

I really believe that the Harris twins could've been first round talents if they stayed two more years. It's going to be an uphill battle for them this year. I hope they have their passports ready.

Wow, 44 inch vert for Pat Connaughton. Didn't see that coming.

well for the NCAA talents I watch from the eye if I think they can play in the NBA with the changes

Systems/roles/talents around them become different, along with their strengths/weakness's and changes of the 24 second shot clock, 1v1 more, and while Euro talent are much harder to anaylyze as they generally play a much more TEAM oriented game that STATS are the results of the game, usually with less minutes

While with NBA, it is usually playing off STRENGHTS, TALENTS and POSSIBLE HIGHLIGHTS first, WHILE BIG NUMBERS leads to BIG CONTRACTS, however, playing to acquire STATS and playing to Win while in the flow and best interest of the team while accumulating STATS is another thing

Numbers can be manipulated while talent can not

Like many sports and even boxing/fighting,
Being able to dictate the speed, control the tempo, and having a rhythem to the game is very important

PTS
FG %

REBOUNDS
ASS
STEALS
BLOCKS
TO's
intangibles/ability to shoot with both hands/mid range *floater*,/ ability to draw and sell fouls, take charges etc...
Ability to handle the ball
Ability to penetrate and finish with contact, while looking to facilitate as an option, forcing double/triple teams to give to a open team mates for a high % shot, or driving blindly hoping to do so...

what style of play with fit their skill sets and hide their weakness's along with coach/personality etc...

Body type and how they use it to their strenghts and exploit weakness's
For instance, for a player like JO who was thin but STRONG and used length/quickness/strength with great anticipation, no fear, and anger to play,
Though many were BIGGER than him, he was able to recover on DEFENSE and was a GREAT TEAM DEFENDER/SHOT BLOCKER/FINISHER with both hands

LOVED HIS GAME along with Rasheed Wallace, YOUNG KG
ALL players I would look to bring in along with possibly Bynum/Horace Grant/Ewing, assumming we draft OK4 or Towns

LEADERSHIP/DEFENSIVE fundamentals
FOOT WORK/Heart/Motor/fatigue/pace
SPEED/Quickness/ability to spot and go, going left or right/juke
HOW and IFF they are SETTING PICKS/WHEN and HOW TO USE PICKSMAKING CUTS/MAKING PLAYS FOR TEAM MATES, LOOKING FOR HIGH % SHOTS
Anticipation/BB IQ/commmunication/on DEFENSE if they can initiate or play passing lanes/CHEMISTRY

Ajustments by team and players.... which is partially coaching and chemistry with players developped over time...

Strengths/weakness's/along with "potential"
Versatility on OFF AND DEFENSE, WILLINGNESS AND ABILITY TO DEFEND, like Gallo - he had heart and willingness to defend but doesn't have the ability to do so with lack of speed/quickness/athleticism/explosivness
How many positions can they play on OFFENSE
How many positions they can defend on different TIERS with help, without help, if they force their opponent to the help DEFENSE while playing passing lanes
DEFENSE is played on so many different levels, starting with anticipation/BB IQ/team work/timely moves to force opponent to make a mistake

Playing the angles correctly on OFFENSE and DEFENSE, how they use their body to shield others off for post ups, along with passing and passing lanes
If they get beat, can they recover, do they give up, are they foul prone, good decion making?

And then there is also regular season talent and play off caliber talent, clutch gene, along with being able to play on and off the ball, doing little stuff like box out/communicate/understanding of the game BB IQ, playing off opponents strenghts/weakeness's on DEFENSE in which you must have a scouting report of your opponent first which Draymond Green does very well at....

There is a lot I look in to, highlights are highlights, so they are meant to show the positives or weakness's of a player that a game can will show if you watch carefully
The more I am in to a player, the more I pay attention to their abilities

There is a lot more to it, however, some may not understand if they never played BBALL and do not understand period...
Like the effect of someone posting up on you throughout the game, it will ware you done, with no LEGS to shoot, which Lebron James did to James Harden on a mismatch, along with Harden over exerting himself on both DEFENSE and OFFENSE on the games prior to the finals

THE PLAY NEVER STOPS....

like Reddick simply taking away the left hand side of Harden's drive and forcing Harden to JOrdan's help defense, while the other players are ALL READING THIS AND PLAYING PASSING LANES and WAITING IF THEY CAN DOUBLE AND TRAP/GO FOR REBOUND OR RUN DOWN COURT

Then when a shot is put up, if the defense is able to anticipate it for the rebound along with Houston for if their team mates are moving and able to anticipate a shot for rebound or going back for defense
BOTH ARE IMPORTANT for each team

Houston's flaw is they do not know what they are trying to do and have no real plays, as Harden is able to get to what he wants 90% of the time when he plays to score/facilitate and control the pace
Terrence Jones was way too small for Blake Griffen, DMO is out so Josh Smith should have started instead of letting them get in ryhythm
houston also DOES NOT MOVE, a trait that our Mike Woodson team's did with ISO play that does now work in the play offs

EVERY TIME soemone touches the ball, there should be player movememnt to anticipate, open angles for the next move as an option, and attack/anticipate together, with plays to establish an advantage/exploit a match up

They need to catch Jordan in foul scenarious, baiting him, then take over if so....
Depending on the depth of the team, you want to exert the most energy out of your opponents, like Clippers have no depth, so play at a fast pace, but their DEFENSE/REBOUND is very good, so you need to counter that with good spacing/ball and player movement along with pick both on and off the ball

They know who can handle the ball and who can not, so they have to utilize the picks and timing together very well TOGETHER

I play ball now with players on their level. They will be overseas or in the d league which isn't bad. But they will always dominate local gyms like the guys I play with now. They have the skills to be nba players....but it's numbers game. Need more expansion teams.

I believe they were the ones that were hoping to acquire with a late 2nd rounder buy purchasing a 2nd rounder for Aaron Harrison and undrafted for Andrew Harrison
They certaintly would "fit" as they have good size/athleticism/ to play the PG/SG that Phil Jackson loves BIG PG's, with versatile skill sets on both OFF and DEFENSE
Also with Shved and his qualifing offer, I do not see them paying him that price, however, if he can agree to a lower amount in the range of 2m - 3.5m, we could resign him, depending on years/team and/or player options with how we fill out our roster

For Shved,
Not many teams can actually offering an ideal situation for his long term success
He currently is a backup PG that was starting for a BAD TEAM that lacked talent, and could wind up competing for a STARTING JOB, expecially if we draft a BIG if we land a TOP 2 pick
Other than that, does he want long term security at about 3.5m a season or gamble for more with the rise of the cap?
Teams like Clippers could offer him a LONG TERM DEAL in which Clippers would prefer but could only have the TAXPAYERS MLE to offer, assuming they resign DeANDRE Jordan
With Steve Ballmer, after spending 2 Billion and advancing last season, I do not see why he wouldn't pay up with the rise of the cap next season to secure the chemistry developped between the BIG 3 of

Clippes BIG 3??
=======================

CP3
BLake Griffen
Jordan *unless they look pull a Dallas after winning a Ring, break up the team in hopes of having a better team for the long term of future, with no draft picks at all this summer to target a Whiteside/Durant/Pau Gasol/Noah/Al Hoforod etc.... while signing short term deals or trades if so

rest signed so far
==========================

Reddick

Spencer Hawwes that looks like a poor contract right now that will take assets to get rid off

CJ Wilcox continue anaylsis at the G/f Position, likely will see by next season if he is worthy of a roster spot or will not have a future with the team, 1st year rookies generally need a season and summer to prepare themsvles for the following season if they have good work ethic, ie Tony Snell, Vucevic, CJ MCCALLUM, James Johnson, Rivers etc...

Lester Hudson, decent 3rd string PG with team option, could release him and resign him to non guaranteed contract or get replacement like John Lucas III

With Player Options on
===============================

Jamal Crawford *which they could look to save money and get ridd off at 5m, especially with the development of Rivers which can be payed highest at 3.5m*
Matt Barnes is a big part of their OFFENSE/DEFENSE, despite his age, he is not a gamble at 3.5m, unlikely to want to sign him LONG TERM and release him given his age, and the rise of the cap and possible B+ targets in 2017

Probably look to fill in a LEGIT BACKUP PG or if Rivers can be the PG and continue with Crawford for one more season which I doubt, think they no longer want to watch his dance and 1v1 play, with poor defense, along with his age, and likely also wanting a long term deal, rather cut ties now, while signing Rivers to a 1year deal and team option for 2nd, so they can have more options with 2017 FA and 1st rounder to work with

MLE or TAX PAYERS MLE,
=============================

with possible trades/D LEAGUE pick ups to actually have a bench and compete next season, and still have room in 2017 to acquire B+ talents

Whether it is Aminu, Wesley Johnson, Derrick Williams, and Aaron Brooks/Shved/John Lucas III, with possible trade's depending on the future of Bklyn with Lopez this summer along with THad Young
Could see a scenario that they could trade with Detroit to take some contracts/talent back, also D League has a lot of G/F shooters if they part with Bklyn's 2nd rounder

Probably willing to sign one if they keep Jordan, and possibly trade for another for a low cost, they own 2019 1st rounder that is tradeable along with Bklyns 2nd round pick in 2016 *could be a HIGH 2nd rounder, especially if Lopez leaves this summer which would add value to the pick to either keep with their own 2016 1st rounder since 2017's rounder is traded to Bucks for Dudley's contract

Guys who made money today

#1 Jordan Mickey
#2 Vince Hunter
#3 J P Tokoto
#4 Terry Rozier
#5 Rakeen Christmas
#6 Andrew Harrison
#7 Mike Frazier

Guys who may have lost money today

#1 Tyler Harvey

#3 Aaron Harrison

I think Jordan Mickey just launched himself into a top 20 pick. Its one thing to blocks shots at a high rate in college its another to do it against best of breed from college. Also Vince Hunter was the beast of the day--played hard. Tyler harvey plays the game the wrong way right now.

I liked Keifer Sykes in college, but it looks like he needs some time in the D-League to refine his J.

I haven't been watching -- how has Myles Turner looked? And how about the 6'2" PG Joseph Young? Is here there?

Myles turner isnt playing fine--but they did come out with a report that his legs are ok and he measured 6-11 245 with a 7-4 wingspan not sure yet about athletics but he looked pretty bouncy in warmups.

Ahh, ok thanks. I noticed you elevated him in your mock draft. I thought he was performing well at the Combine perhaps. Good call on Joe Young awhile back -- I've only seen video and I just reviewed two lengthy clips on youtube yesterday of Young. He's impressive. A bit of a scoring point but so what? People get so turned off by that--I welcome a PG that can put the ball in the hole. The more scorers, the merrier if you ask me. I saw a lot of Bryce Cotton this year in the DL and Young reminds me of Cotton -- maybe a slightly bigger version. He's got good skills -- good handle, pretty quick and shifty and he can definitely shoot and score. Looking over his stats I noticed his shot attempts went up as did his scoring but at the expense of his overall FG% and 3-pt%. No biggie--that's gonna happen naturally if you play more minutes and you take more shots...His assists were up though, so that's a good sign. I think he can definitely handle some NBA point. When he's right, this kid looks like a potent scorer that will shoot a good % from the floor overall, from the line and from 3. My friend mentioned Galloway & Boobie Gibson as comparisons. I dunno--looks like this kid can do more than those two. Seems more versatile offensively to me. I agree -- this kid looks like a sleeper in the 2nd round...Somehow, someway I'd like to see them beef up the PG spot, whether we make a calculated run at Cory Joseph, maybe Jeremy Lin as a 2nd choice if we can get Dolan to forgive and forget and if the price is right this time (we already know he can handle NY), we resign Shved (hopefully--no brainer), and/or we look to acquire a 2nd rounder and go after this kid Young.
