dont be fooled.i dont think hes that good. he just has one GREAT asset...offensive rebounding..should you pay him a nice multi yr deal just for THAT skill? naw
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Amir Williams, the Center that played with Russell I think is 4year player that is likely undrafted that would be another solid risk/reward for camp invite or a late 2nd rounder to own draft rights to while going to D League to work on his skills for a season or a bit more that we can stash and develop for the system, especially if we do draft Russell who will have chemistry with him already

you're right but you'd agree that the offensive rebound is a very valuable skill come playoff time, same as drawing fouls.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/14/report-tristan-thompson-turned-down-four-year-52-million-contract-extension-with-cavaliers/

rumor is he turned down a 12m 4year deal then 52m 4year deal which is 13m per year, not sure if this is a sign of what to expect of this summers FA class and RFA's
It is quite surprising that Thompson is still one of the TOP OFF rebounders at the minutes he plays
Though he tends to finish games at Center which he has the speed/quickness/mobility/athleticism over majority of Centers

Seems like playing with the best player in the NBA will make everybody around him better.

that is certainly a factor, however, he does not need the ball and can affect the game in many other ways.

that argument is much better with a guy like Danny Green (who I like)

Thats exactly what the knicks need....More players that do not need the ball to be affective. Look at Irving as an example. When Lebron goes off, Irving doesn't show up, but he's being paid like a max player. You can't have a team full of players, where everybody needs 30 attempts. I felt like thats what we had and why it failed.

Some players won't even put forth the effort on deffense, if they are not happy on offense. Stay away from those types.

I take Thompson over Amir Johnson that is for sure.

At a minimum he's a better rebounder and much younger.

Both Van Gundy and Mark Jackson said that Thompson will get his MAX this summer.

Not sure I believe that but they both said it.

How do you ask for Max, if you haven't proved you can carry a team? Without Lebron, the Cavs were terrible and Tristan Thompson was getting a lot of minutes, plus he had Irving on his team. They still couldn't make any noise in the east.

I think he is possible target if no one else gives him a ridiculous offer... Texas has produced quality forwards the past decade: Durant, Aldridge, Thompson(?)

I don't he leaves Cleveland because of the Rich Paul/Lebron connection and the chance Love might leave plus their cap situation prevents them from improving their team that much.

The only way I think he leaves Cle is if he heads home and moves into Amir Johnson slot for the Raptors. That's even a stretch since he is still a rag.

If he's available and the price tag isn't overly inflated, I'm interested -- I just have trouble seeing the Cavs letting this guy get away esp. with the cap set to expand the following year. I'm hoping for the following realistic additions:

Draft:
Towns 1, Okafor 2, Winslow 3, Kaminsky 4, Mudiay 5.

Frontcourt FA possibilities:
Alexis Ajinca
Lavoy Allen
Thomas Robinson
Luke Babbitt
Eric Griffin
Khem Birch
Jordan Bachynski (or resign Cole Aldrich)
Earl Barron
Jerrelle Benimon

Backcourt FA possibilities:
Cory Joseph
Resign Alexey Shved
Scotty Hopson
Sign Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Retain Ricky Ledo

Extra bonus moves/stuff to keep an eye on:
Acquire a 2nd rounder somehow--draft PG Joe Young.
Look into trading for PF Dwight Powell if available. Sign him if Dallas ever cuts him loose.
Sign JaMychal Green if Memphis cuts him loose.
Sign Bryce Cotton if Utah cuts him loose.
Sign E'Twaun Moore and/or Cameron Bairstow if Chicago sever ties with either guy.

Realistic draft targets 1-5 followed by realistic FA choices (not 1 max FA in the bunch). The most unrealistic idea is signing Cory Joseph -- RFA that will be difficult to get but we might be able to steal him on an overpay. If we can do better, great, but I'd be happy with these core additions.

I'll be stunned if he gets a Max contract for what he's done so far.

Nice player for the right team, but he is nothing special at this point. Doesn't shoot beyond 10 feet, average shot blocker, and even his per/36 rebounding numbers are nothing special.

I guys like Thompson are offered Max deals, the league is in trouble... has to be some kind of correlation between performance and pay.

Can't believe that Jackson and Van Gundy would have made the comment... they were clearly carried away by the moment.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree
