He's interesting because he has size--6-4 190 and looks like he can play a triangle PG shoots over .415 from 3 in high volume over 3 years yet also has really nice NBA bounce

how many draft picks do we have? i thought just one
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

He is not inbdraftnets mock. Do you think he goes undrafted? I would assume he played at Portsmouth. I might check out his measurements and what was said about him.

Looks interesting. I'm confident that the Knicks Scouting Staff is scouring the world for hidden talent. UDFA's are a wealth of talent for teams like NY that don't have many picks and i'm sure we'll continue to use that resource as we did with Galloway and others. 2 rounds of draft is not enough to catch everyone worth bringing in.

Its an extremely unusual high value draft. The entire first 35 picks are littered with quality big men and then into rd2 and UDFA you are going to have more players make the NBA than any year in the history of the draft. So many good guards who have a lot of ability. Look at Thorton--how many players in this draft are 6-4 can play PG looks like a plus defender has NBA athleticism/ bounce is a long term high quality volume 3 point shooter and legit ball-handler? This guy looks like another NBA sleeper. Looks a little like Branden Knight.

This is the line on DX. The height measurement is up to date. You would think he'd measure in at 6'3" with shoes. Seems to play bigger in the video... don't know how big his opponents were. Has a pretty good wingspan for his height. Physical measurables are almost exactly the same as Galloway- superior jumper, though.

Seems to be a combo guard. More of a PG who likes to shoot first based on his assist numbers. With his wingspan I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more steals.

Would look closely at him when signing UFAs.

Year	Source Height w/o Shoes	Weight	Wingspan	Standing Reach No Step Vert
2015 Portsmouth 6' 1.5" 179 6' 7.5" 8' 2.5" 32.5

Hope these stats show up properly.

^^^^Walt, thanks for posting the stats and measurements. Seems like a guy the Knicks might be able to get as an undrafted free agent.

Interesting,
this gent resembelance looks like a cross between 1 time knick draftee Chris Wilcox and the disdained star S'Hawk Richard Sherman

If the dude Thorton has any skill maybe the knicks will have something there if he is picked up?
NY only has 1 first rnd pick and 1 second rnd pick ?

Guess unless he is undrafted
or invited by teams

I don't think Marcus Thorton is a pure PG but he does have some verstaile skills as a smaller Jae Crowder and some of Dennis Schoredder's/Iman Shumpert type of impact, while playing as the 2nd ball handler
He looks to have good quickness, good BB IQ, and overall skills, especially if he goes undrafted
Wesley Johnson/Brandon Wright/Derrick Williams/Aminu/Lavoy Allen/Rasual Butler/Koufus/Gereld Green are some potential UFA talents we might be able to sign at 5m and even less
Some of which could be vet min like Butler or 2-3.5m on multi year deals for cost efficient talents

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owYGbo0OXrg

There are quite a few SF's and G/F's with the abilty to shoot and space the floor as cheap options in the D League, even Bill Walker and Renaldo Balkman as 3rd string backups along with some 1-3year talents for continued development, mining our own Gereld Green/James Johnson/Danny Green/Wesley Matthewws/Brandon Wright type talents/
Just D League alone...

Darington Hobson
James Anderson
Elliot Williams
Jarell Eddie
Doran Lamb
CJ Fair

THANASIS

SF/PF
Renaldo Balkman

With a few PG's like

Tim Frazier
Aaron Craft
Bryce Cotton
Tourrey Murray/Darrius Morris

some PF/C's and Centers

Arinze Onuaku/Ben Strong/Orlando Sanchez
Willie Reed/Backnasksi

Not sure why anyone hasn't signed Frazier. He looked good on Philly and was the MVP and rookie of the year fr the d league.

He looks like a guy who should be a terror defensively on PG's but his stats dont show that.

Believed he signed with Portland, though not sure if they have an option on him for next season
He looked like he could be a solid PG while on Philly, though they have Isiah Cannon, Ish Smith, as well as Tony Wroten, and rumor says they love Mudiay, which they have a great development staff that developped Jrue Holiday to an ALL STAR status prior to his injury on both OFF and DEFENSE which Mudiay has the physical abilities to do so and is much more athletic/quick/better handle than Holiday when he was drafted...

As I have said prior to the start of this season, I predicted Wroten's value was going to go up with MCW earl injury,
I really like Wroten, though he is has a risk due to his knee surgery, but if we can buy low on him, I will take the risk, like Tim Hardaway, Early, and cash/2nd rounder
His ability to penetrate/finish with contact was TOP NOTCH TIER 1 with Harden, John Wall, Westbrook etc, and has great size/strength/explosiveness/athleticism, with steals and assists
He knows how to get fouled just and finish much like Harden, which would open up shots with shooters around him, though there is a chance he will not be the same player and need another year to recover/get in NBA shape

Phil Jackson has said he wants players that look to get to the paint and he does a great job at that
While we will need to add a POST PLAYER/BIG DEFENDER as well, it depends if we can buy low on him due to his injury
I would give them a future 1st rounder for Covington/Wroten and some early 2nd rounders

If we could get Shabazz and Wroten, they could be very good scorers that we lacked to initiate our offense, add in a BIG, and we would be much improved with a healthy CA

Wroten
Thanasis
CA
Covington
Monroe

1st rounder
Shved/Galloway
Shabazz/Wesley Johnson
Orlando Sancehz
Lavoy Allen

Cole Aldrich
Marcus Thorton
1 spot/ Walter Tavaras??

im asking this in all sincerity, how will we get these guys?

from what i understand, the knicks have:
- one draft pick - 20% chance of being number one
- about 30mill in cap space
- only melo, jose ,timmy, early on the team

from what i assume:
- the knicks arent trading their draft pick
- no one wants tim hardaway
- Melo is NOT getting traded

the only maybe is:
- jose may or may not be waived

in summary, these are great suggestions for players to get (wroten, bazzie muhammed, etc etc) but HOW are we going to get them?

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

i agree
furthermore If I am knicks I aint parting with any picks or future pick
for any players cited in the forum posts here

it hasnt ever worked for ny francised I dont see why folks wanna go down avenue of
dealing our draft chips for guys whom are not a legit #1,2 or #3 talent on their roster in the first place

Each year 2nd rd draft picks change multiple hands. The Knicks have been able to get back into the draft and also must prepare for a draft of 150 players or so. The Knicks found David Lee and Langston Galloway at the PIT. Trading a draft pick always comes back to value--what type of value am I getting? In the past the Knicks used picks both in rd 1 and especially in rd 2 as throw ins--devaluing their importance to team building. Whether you use an asset from 2019 in 2015 is all dependent on what is coming back to you. Keeping your eyes closed to options wont help the team.

Thornton at this point isn't projected to be drafted by draftnet. Seems like he could be a Galloway type free agent signing after the draft.

oh im not saying that 2nd rd picks dont have value...im asking where are we getting them from? the only valuable asset the knicks have is their draft pick...and i doubt theyre trading it. thats why im so confused...why all this talk about a second draft pick?

I just had a chance to look at the Portsmouth write up and saw LeBryan Nash had a good showing. I have not followed him but remember he was a McDonalds all American. He isn't even projected to be drafted. Googled him and saw comparisons to Artest. Also saw that he was the 21st rated prospect coming out of high school and was supposed to be a one and done. He is another guy that appears to be worth taking a chance on. Not sure if there are any issues/concerns with him.
