To me he is a top 5 draft pick type talent.

Measurables 6'11.5 7-4 wingspan 220 and 19 years old---player resembles a cross between Anthony Davis and Rudy Gay

Was top 10 in CBB in Shot blocking rebounding paint FG% and also hot over 30 3 point shots. When I look at why Kritaps Porzingis is ranked 6th--I have to question Wood's ridiculous rankings mock drafts. This will be another Hassan Whiteside Deandre Jordan out of the world miss. This is why I want the Knicks to bypass atleast 1/2 of free agency and see if we can get that 16 pick from Boston for taking Wallace. A towns Wood or Towns Okafor combo from 19 each will give us a foundation that few teams have.

I really dont see the kNicks as any contender with LBJ on the Cavs for the next 3 years. We are better off showcasing Carmelo's skills and getting the highest offer we can for him at the right time and build from scratch as we are now. Danny Green isnt helping the Knicks go from 17 wins to 57 he would have a negligible effect.

My belief is we do all we can to rebuild the frontline this year and see if we can find some guards in the 2 or UFDA. Spending money on any SG for more than 1 year makes no sense. Rather let Timmy Hardaway continue to his development and bring in 2 rookies.

Knick fans will be much more happier trying to build a long term foundation for a championship rather than trying to piece meal our next set of Shanden Andersen and Kurt Thomas's

Really? He may well be, but should we take a top five pick and potentially gamble on him?

We have no pick next year.

This is why this pick is so important, and I'd rather see us bet on a solid risk, vs. bigger risk.

Strengths

Weakness

He is extremely raw and he does have a high ceiling but he also has a high chance in being a BUST as well
With AR likely available for a vet min contract, I would rather take a chance on AR, than using a 1st rounder or even high 2nd rounder on Wood

However, if we use a mid/late 2nd rounder to stash him, with him developing overseas and then D League first, I would not have a problem with it for the cost/risk/reward
There are so many other talents I would much rather have in the same positions and other positions as well

Delon Wright
Terry Rozier

Rakeem Christmas
Robert Upshaw
Dakari Johnson

Tyler Harvey

Aleksandar Vezenkov
Moussa Diagne

Aaron Harrison

I do not even want to list the FA's, previous UDFA's, continued development talents such as Thomas Robinson, Lavoy Allen, Ed Davis, D league talents/European and International talents in China etc...

If you'd like to go back and look from 4 years ago I said the same thing about Hassan Whiteside. You're bunching 23 year olds with a 19 yo. I think Wood has both physical and skilled characteristics that A Davis has. Why wouldnt I want to draft and develop? It cost MUCH less---2nd rounder to undrafted top get almost any player you listed. If you can go back in time and show me some prognostication about player you picked well before a draft--Id like to see it.

Randolph is still only 25. He was nominated for defensive player of the year in Russia.

Wood is just too raw and his body needs too much work, while we lack too many picks currently to take such a risk, while other teams with multiple draft picks could afford to gamble and miss, we can not

There are a lot of other talents that we could think outside of the box from including

AR
Andray Blatche

This is the same type of mentality when Deandre Jordan and Hassan Whiteside fall to round 2 then you get a shtty player Jordan Hill and then you get fcked twice for not being forward looking. If he was 15 pounds heavier and a year older we would be talking about Towns Wood or Oakfor for pick #1. If you get this player at pick 16 with a 2nd pick that a great call.
