I'm not saying they were all stars before they got here, but they were much better players. We can go all they way back to Eisley, who was at least solid in Utah, from that point on, it's been terribly inconsistent.

We really haven't had a consistent pg since Derek harper, Charlie ward and Chris childs tandem. Ironically we haven't been real good since.

I know a lot of you look at the triangle as a system that doesn't require an elite pg, but with phils tenure looking like it's going to be brief, i think it's something the knicks have to look at and realize. These fly by night pg's that come in and have a brief run then either break down, or their game goes completely south, has got to stop. With a volume shooter like melo, it's almost a no brainer at this point,

Harper, childs and Ward were as good as the other 4 around them.
Harper was great, but he was at the end of his career and he did ok on a very good team.
Childs was usually out of shape, injured and inconsistant. His last contract he mailed it in.
Ward was ok, but really limited. He had good leadership skills and was ok, but at the time a weak link.

Whats your point? Saw an article that fans want Calderon gone? Of course they do. Fans what to change whats in front of them.

10 roster spots open. Looks like we took it down to the studs. YOu want to harp about the moldy walls, creaky floors and falling ceiling?
What can you say? "Do something about it"?
Looks like 10 roster spots open Phils on it.

You did not mention Marbury, Rod Strickland or Mark Jax.

Yes, good point. Take a step back and what happend? We took an undrafted kid, put him in the Dleague bought him up for 45 games where he avg. nearly 12 and 4 a game.
not Linsanity and no guarantee he sticks but when does the knicks develop players?

The decision making process has made a huge shift from starphuching policies to actual roster construction and D-league use. We have the Thanisis maybe developing as well.
A top 5 draft pick. cap space. We freaking Waived Stat. We moved Priggs, shump and JR. Cleaned house and the team got better playing with generic cast offs and low salary guys.

Even bargnani looked decent down the stretch!

The future is never clear, but the present decisions will add up. Harp about the past but its irrelevant.

Galloway is more of a combo guard, I'm talking about a pure pg.

Combo guards do better in the Triangle. We don't need a ball dominant PG. We need guards that can shoot, pass and get to the basket. Decent passing but they don't have to be the greatest pure PG. This is why Schved looked so good as well. The Triangle Makes things easier on a guard in terms of play making.

It's over, for the love of sheeeeehit, will this never die for some of you? Do you know Jeremy H Christ won't even say Linsanity, except to say he won't talk about it?

Mark Jackson was about as pure of a PG his rookie year as we've ever had since Clyde. He didn't get bad real fast, it just seemed the league got faster.

Charlie Football was outright bench fodder. That he and Mr. Yale actually started in our last trip to the Finals still makes me want to puke up my coffee.

We could actually use another guard who can get to the basket with regularity. Lin would actually be a good player for this style. He would be able to make quick decisions to either pass, shoot or drive much similar to Schved. Getting the rhythm of it should not take too long. He shot about 37% from 3 and 52% at the basket on drives. There's actually a chance he could be targeted in Free Agency.

I dont understand the thread... what PGs have we brought in? Felton played better here than anywhere else. Linsanity happened here, we just didnt resign him. Langston is an undrafted FA we groomed nicely into a legit NBA player. Maybe your blaming the Knicks for the demise of Mike Bibby?

good player. Classic example of how we get guys when they are ready to turn the corner from bad to useless

I read this thread as we should draft Russell - which I kinda agree with, but obviously I'm not in the same position to judge talent like our FO is.

I tend to think today's game is having athletic, skilled smalls that can attack, hit shots and pass and then bigs who are workmanlike, lunch pail guys that set screens, defend and rebound and then hit the open shot when its there.

That is classic! And its what I am worried about reading that we may end up with Elton Brand & David West this off season- ok with adding them, but not if it takes up anything more than a modicum of cap.

Im a huge DR fan. Huge. If we took him #1 I would not only bat an eye I would be thrilled because I totally agree with you and if they took this kid #1 after all the workouts etc it would just confirm what I already suspect and thats he's the best BB player in this draft.
