Boy watching Chicago you cant help notice Jimmy Butler and how Winslow looks just like him--makes decisions really hard up top. each player in the top of the draft has a real positives but also flaw. Winslow not so much the case--is he Jimmy Butler/K Leonard 2. He certainly has many characteristics.

Well we have 2 months to figure this one out. Winslow is one helluva player.

I LOVE Winslow. He's a winning player. You're dead on with the Butler and Kahwi comparison. This kid has that it factor and a drive and feel for the game that is top notch. Winslow was the X Factor for his team and he also reminds me a bit of Draymond Green. A guy that just does everything for his team. He's not the Primary option but he's that perfect Scotty Pippen type that will make your star look even better.

Each player at the top

Russell Okafor Mudiay all have some kind of flaw--they also have potentially better pure offensive skills. But Winslow has no true flaw. The only thing you ask what is his true position? These other guys are more defined position wise but it doesnt mean that Winslow might not just be the best all a round player out of all of them. Very VERY difficult decision for Knicks. You know in all of these years we really did not have the choices that we "might" have as long as were reasonably lucky. The one thing with Winslow is that he can shoot the three and handle the rock beyond his superior athletic talent and the fact hes a physical specimen. He's the ONLY true ballhandler in the entire draft over 225--meaning a guy who can go end to end with the dribble and he plays as hard as anyone in this draft. He could be the draft steal even high--I dont see bust in anyway with him. He might take some time to define himself and ultimately he might not be as good as a few others but this is the hard part to determine--we wont see the closed door workouts the teams will see.

Geez, Briggs, you're like a kid whose been told by his parent that you only buy one piece of candy at Economy Candy in Manhattan, and you're finding it difficult to choose as you walk about the store looking at all that corn syrup and sugar.

You'll have a lot of trouble making it to the actual draft with your sanity if we're picking at #3, which just might end up being the most difficult to choose from when all is said and done, especially if Towns and OK4 are already chosen.

Seems like a good amount of talent available, though. Even if we make a "mistake," we still get a future contributor.

I agree 3 will be utterly confusing. I honestly don't know the answer--depends on who I watch next I guess. But I cant see anyone else being dead set either even if they think one way. We won't see the final tests so to speak--fans will be in the dark. But ultimately I think you are dead on--I dont see a bust anywhere near where we are picking. I think our bust factor is honestly zero and the chance of getting a really good player is very high.

Dynamite player. Reminds me of James Harden a lot. Interested to see if he goes somewhere where he gets a carte blanche green light to pump up shots like Harden does. That may not come right away but I could see him developing into that same type of volume scorer in the NBA eventually...Skilled, big, strong tough wing...Agree -- bust potential is virtually nil.

If we took Winslow, what role do you guys see him fulfilling right away? Starting 2G? Off the bench? Sixth man??

I like him a lot also. I sold him short earlier in the year saying he was just feasting off OK4's scraps, and often he was (thats not a bad thing). But when OK4 was hurt or as we saw in the tourney in foul troubles Winslow stepped up in a huge way and showed that Duke team had two great players.. truly a 1 and 1a.

As for where he plays? Let training camp sort that out. 6th man seems ideal because he can defend a few spots probably right out of the game. He's got a bonafide man's body. 6th man makes sense but that will sort itself out in time.

I like him so much that I had him at #2 in my top 5
ahead of OK4 and behind Towns.
This kid has all the tools and would be a great get
if we miss out on Towns.

I've been saying Winslow is a Kawhi Leonard type for a while now. He just does everything well. I see him as a perfect Spur - which is a high compliment.

He can play the 2 or the 3 in the league. I think probably a 3 is where he'll settle in, but it'll depend on the style of play.

I agree that after Towns and OK4 go 1, 2, 3-5 with Russell, Mudiay and Winslow might be a toss up that comes down to workouts and team preference.

I still prefer Russell, but I'd have no problem if the Knicks wound up with Winslow.

Same... I do think this draft is a 1-4 with OK4/Towns as bigs and Russell/Winslow as the wings. I keep hearing the same good things about Mudiay and the same one bad thing.. he cant shoot. Thats a really big flaw to overcome, and when I look at his vids I see a guy who's made his mark attacking the basket, but is no longer the biggest fastest guy out there and he's struggled more and looked out of control at times. He might slide a bit. Workouts should be telling. I have heard he's a tough gritty kid and is thats the case he should be just fine.

Winslow finished the strongest off all the draft guys... no doubt about that

good comparison to butler but i need to see winslow shoot it better. but yes both are linebackers who have decided to play football
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Nobody knows what Phil is thinking besides the fact that he wants a big man that can play defense. So after Towns we have absolutely no idea what Phil's board would look like. Does he think OK4 can get better on defense? If he misses on Towns would he rather trade down to get a big man and a eXtra pick? Does he want a PG to play with Melo over a OK4? Does he want a two way player like a Winslow more than he'd want a PG to play the 2/3 spot. Does he like one of the two European guys over the PG's or OK4? There's a lot of questions that nobody on here knows the answers to about Phil's way of thinking. We know he wants someone who fits his system more than anything else so just because we think someone should be chosen doesn't mean he sees that player as the fit he wants. Everyone is discounting the European guys because they don't know much about them but I wouldn't rule anything out with Phil cause he has a different way of thinking and doing things.

Winslow is the main reason why I would not mind trading the lotto pick. It is imperative that we get the first pick of the draft, because it has huge negotiating power
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Just for poops and giggles.... I compared Winslow and Butler's measurements. They are both exactly 6'6 w/o shoes (thats 6'7 by NBA measurements) however Butler has a 6'7.5 wingspan vs. Winslow's 6'10. Winslow also has 4 inches on his standing reach, so for what its worth Winslow is a longer player

I hope Phil puts his system ish to the side on draft night and drafts the best available talent.

Would people have thought Pippen would be a perfect Triangle player before he played in it? What about Shaq? Shaq can't shoot and supposedly the big man must shoot in the Triangle.

I hope Phil takes the best player on the board and teaches him how to play in the Triangle.

Winslow, I think, would be a good Triangle candidate because he comes from a system at Duke and he seems smart. I can't see a system where he wouldn't be a good basketball player.

I don't know if he has an "all-star" ceiling like some of the guys... but Kawhi Lenoard hasn't been an all-star yet, I don't think.

You get into trouble in the draft if you try to outsmart people. See, for example, ISiah taking Renaldo Balkman over Rondo and Lowry. Just take the best damn player at the draft and figure it out later. We don't have a single position on the floor where a 20 year old young stud couldn't help. Take the best damn player.

Pip was probably perfect, and Shaq was great because of his passing.. I mean some people talk about the triangle like these guys are playing a different sport. Its still hoops! I agree, but it is very hard to know who is or will be the best player after just one year of college competition. If I were one of the folks selecting, I would aim to draft a player who is MORE complete over just an athletically gifted type or a dude who is only good at one thing on the floor.

If the Knicks wanted a big man draft prospect why didnt they use pick # 33 on Walter Taveras last year? I don't think the KNicks were prepared for the draft as they got the picks very late in the process. Cle Early is an Ok prospect but when you get a chance to draft a 7-3 athletic C in the 2nd round--I think you do it. He ended up this year as Europe's number 1 C prospect and would easily go top 15 imho. So will Phil now reach for WCS--thats what I think.

Pip turned into the perfect Triangle player - to be honest Winslow has some Pippen qualities... but how many guys get compared to Pippen and honestly he's one of those guys I don't know if there will ever be another one exactly like him.

But, yeah, exactly - basketball is basketball. Take the best damn player. I worry Phil gets too caught up in the qualities that make a guy a good candidate for the Triangle or not.

well he likes long athletic guys thats for sure... but he really hasnt had much to work with so far. This offseason will tell us exactly what kind of players Phil wants. Between the draft, trades and FA we will have a clear roadmap. At least I hope we will
