I have followed Hasheem since he was a freshmen and I have never seen his game as fluid as it appears as it looks now. I met Thabeet several times--he's HUGE in person every bit of 7-2 but he really had hands of stone and rough edge to his game. He probably needed 5-7 years of development and going so high in the draft was putting a Scarlet letter on him. What he is doing now--I have never seen hitting his free throws in high volume above 85% actually having moves to go to. Blocking shots with body control and not just physical size. Passing the ball with a touch and a purpose--he really looks good. At the end of the day this man is 7-2 and at 27 he deserves another chance. A guy like this can still have a 10 year career as a high quality back up. He's a real good guy in real life hes a good teammates a worker keeps his body in peak condition--all of the things you want in player on your team. We gave Lou Admundson at age 32 a chance and hes 6-9 240. We dont have a spot to give Hasheem a look? We do need shot blockers. Hes put the last couple of years in the D league to improve and he should get a chance.

He's worth a look on a 10 day at least. His overall numbers on the year are still a bit underwhelming, and this point he has failed a lot.

why he didnt listen to calhoun when calhoun told him to stay in school was his dumbest mistake. i'm sure his family needed the money, but he would benefited so much by staying at uconn that extra year. as des said, he's failed a lot, but who knows maybe he finally got that coaching he needs to put him over the hump. you can't teach height and he certainly has that.

He seemed to take off over the last month--had a triple double and his output everywhere increased dramatically. I would like to have seen us audition guys like Griffin Reed Thabeet to take a look. With Hasheem Ive never seen him hit 17/18 free throws or have a turn around jump shot or hit 14 footers but he seems to be doing that now. His size makes him worthy with his advancement in his skill game

Calhoun didnt tell him to stay--it was a no brainer decision. He got picked #2.

Hes a vet minimum 10 day contract player. Same as Griffin Reed etc..I like having shot blockers on my team. If you have a premium PF--you can throw in a shotblocker and let the PF concentrate on scoring and rebounding. The shotblocker can help protect the rim clog the lane and look for opportunity on misses. This is a 4th or 5th type big. We havent put any emphasis on protection of the rim

I am so glad we have Bargnani taking up a roster spot, focus.

Some players, bigs especially, take longer to come into their own.

Beggers can't be choosers. Offer him a spot, see what he does in practice, if he can pick up the concepts we're trying to establish, then you have him potentially under control in the off season and into next year.

A 14 win team should set reasonable expectations. This won't happen over night and we'll have to get lucky with some cheap talent that blossoms beyond the dollars spent on them.

It doesnt even have to be Thabeet--I mean someone who can block shots. Id love to see Hasheem get a chance but its the general message of bring in a shot blocker or 2? If this guys name was Steve Johnson and we never saw him before--do you think people would be interested in seeing him on the Knicks? Hes got a Scarlett letter on him but we all know it can take a big multi years to establish their game.

calhoun didn't briggs? i thought even though he was widely-regarded as the #2 calhoun was still saying he could use another year to season his game? if he didn't, my mistake.. i just thought he did.

It wouldn't have mattered if he stayed. He would still have been a raw talent. Tha beet just isn't NBA material. He should consider going abroad.

He used to play along side of Fisher, he might lobby for Thabbit to be in camp next season.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Hasheem Thabeet is 10 years older than Towns, and Towns looks 10 years better.

But there's always room at the end of the bench for a 7'2 28yr old center, that's active and blocks shots without even jumping.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!
