Big man with stress fracture of the foot at an early age at that. I would pass as the NBA rigors might be to great a stress for his foot. With that said I don't think any doctor would guarantee his foot.

If Embiid is healthy he's the best player in this draft and no reason for Phili to trade him.

Also they wanted MORE picks back, not fewer

Briggs you made a case for not trading for KD because he had the same injury as Walton and Yo Ming, which by the way was incorrect...Embiid has the same injury as Walton and Yo Ming...

no I thought he tore his ACL. He was in a walking boot for a bit because he hurt a muscle rehabbing or something but I don't rememeber hearing about bad feet?

Naw, it's one of those bone foot injuries..In the middle of the foot...

According to SI.com, the stress fracture in Embiid's navicular bone in his right foot is similar to the injury that Yao Ming suffered in 2008 and 2009. It was also the main reason why the Chinese giant was forced to retire in 2011 at the tender age of 30.

Meanwhile, another NBA legend, Hall of Famer Bill Walton, also suffered fractures of the navicular bone that made him play only 14 games between 1978 and 1982.

If it's strss fracture in his foot that's the same as Brook Lopez/Yao right? If it's ACL he is sti young and will be fine.

Still give me Towns who who has no history of injuries yet

Yeah - stay away from the young big man with foot (stress fracture) issues.

You could get lucky but more than likely you get stuck with an expensive suit sitting on the bench taking up $15M a year.

Yea I still have that awful imagine ingrained in my head. He has recovered nicely and having a heck of a rookie year. Definitely can have a Camby/Mutombo like career

He looked pretty darn good as of yesterday--lets be honest if he was in school and healthy hed be a runaway #1. IF IF IF we could land Kaminsky AND Embidd + a couple of 2nd rounders the risk reward ratio would be too great to pass.

I don't get it BRIGGS, you destroyed me when I proposed the same deal recently::))))

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

well ... you don't have the UK clout to suggest such a deal - it needs to come from the top

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I think Briggs is saying if the foot is all good. SOme of the MD's chiming in are not basing it on fact.
BroPez is posterchild for the foot thing.
The think is you have to give these guys a chance to heal!!!
Find sucess stories about the food, not just Yao Ming.
Ming was engineered in a lab and was roided growing up. His parents were chosen to mate and he was given growth hormones as a child. His mom was 6-7!!!!

I don't want to speak for briggs but my take is he is suggesting that IF he is 100% with a good outlook after consult with Dr. Splat and we have the no. 1 pick, and Philly really wants Oka4 that we are better off getting two players than one.

Can't say I have any fault with the concept. I won't argue it despite most of us have an inflated view of ourselves. Kaminsky at the 4 in the NBA kind of reminds me of........
Oh shyt, Bargnani!!!!!!!

Id say you're right. IF we were compensated with Kaminsky in their pick 10 or 11 AND the 32 and 35 then I would CONSIDER taking the risk of taking on Embiid IF he was deemed healthy. Now I know that cant be 100% assured but thats my risk reward scenario.

Could be great, could be Greg Oden - no thanks, I'll take my chances with the ping pong balls.

Same here. Let's not get too greedy. While I appreciate the idea of trading down to improve our haul, I'd rather roll with the ping pong balls.

If the dude turns out to be GO, we can still build on with Kaminsky, Russell, STEIN, whomever we pick with the multiple picks we will obtain for the trade. What if Okafor turns out to be Greg Oden?

Lets say our take"for example"

C-Embiid 7-0 260
#10 PF Kaminsky 7-0 245
#32 PF/C Christian Wood 7-0 220
#35 Joseph Young PG PG 6-2 190

Not a bad haul.

I can't imagine that Phil would not entertain various concepts. If neither Towns or Okafor are deemed generational Talent and we are offered a chance to diverisfy to multiple players, and since we are a team with many needs its a solid concept. The ping pong balls will have much to say about that potential.

Draft Russell, Kaminsky, Sign Monroe and get Melo healthy is a big upside move.

If Embiid is healthy
