In trying to be more METRIC in our approach to building a top 6 rotation this summer, I think we should prioritize Free Agents along the lines of their Win Share 48 rankings. I say this since it seems the only way to avoid the bickering about players that goes on where some view a player as worth it and others don't. So to make it as fair as possible it seems that this is one way to cut the noise and just make a list that is essentially BPA by it's nature. Like a Pro Draft.

So i've compiled this list of Free Agents with the best WS/48. Now you also have to look at the players Age, TS%, PER, WS, minutes and games played etc., but this at least gives us a means to compare a free agent's value and possible impact. According to Basketball Reference the league average is at .100 so I didn't add any players at or below that level. There were a LOT of players below that level.

SO! This is a very interesting list and picking players from it would seem to make the most sense in terms of measurable impact. Purely clinical. No passion involved.

Nixluva, I love the new direction you are taking. Welcome aboard.

This is a very good way to start evaluating players.

I must admit that doing this was very enlightening. Some players surprised me by where they end up on the list. Brandon Wright in particular blew me away. I had no idea he was so impactful.

he has been in dallas too. that is why the rondo was tool city. Check Rondo's TS. Eh maybe you shouldn't check it ... not pretty.

Why are we not talking more about Branda Wright?

win shares underrates defense and tends to overrates specialized role player types.... so a guy like brendan wright is going to look really good because he comes in for a few minutes and just runs pick n roll lobs...

that said... there's a lot of underrated guys.. some who aren't on this but some who are... crowder, withey, amir johnson are names that don't get talked about but are very useful players and will be cheap...

It just goes to show that the Knicks aren't as lost on this kind of stuff as it seems. Remember he wasn't some throw in on a trade. The targeted Shved. They made a separate deal for him using a Trade Exception that Phil got for Felton. So Felton did something good for the team on the way out.

We need for Phil to do even more with his cap space this summer and get a few more high impact players from this list. He won't have to overspend on one guy in order to get great value.

This is why I did the list. At some point you can use different stats to move a player higher or lower but there is enough info to make an informed decision.

The list is somewhat skewed. If you went by this list you wouldve had a great free agency by taking

#4 Jeremy Evans
#13 Jeff Withey
#16 Jerome Jordan
#17 Johns Jenkins

4 top 17 players are the same thing as D league fodder and I guess Branden Wright is in line for a maximum contract??

There should be a minutes per game cut off number 1. Meaning you need to play substantial minutes per game to even count. This does not take into account style of play teammates injury profile players body type speed--there is so much missing to paint a whole picture.. Way too many variables missing here.

it may help you evaluate players that played more than 1000 minutes

Minutes played should be a factor when looking at players on that list

This team wouldnt win 41 games in the west.

And if I can take any unrealistic free agent heres my gig. I think my team would win 4-0 easily.

very good pick up.

Yup, all he needs to do is balance out his shot selection by getting to ft line a lot more. He has made big improvments since he got here so I think he can do that. If the Knicks are lucky enough to lure two STARTING caliber guards here, then he can serve as a really good 6th man to us.
