![]() All those mentioned have rings but Harden and HOF Stockton.
Its part of the game when you can get away with it. Basically NBA is using "embarrassment" to fine and call out players. |

![]() Who doesn't flop? That's just part of the game, a potentially expensive one now that they flag you for it (if caught).
But hell, I do it, too. If you gonna come hard, and I expect to get hit, the bounce-off will exceed the touch. Just part of the game, not a matter of respect. I'd rather if nobody did it, but if some do, then all should. The egregious floppers have curtailed things somewhat due to the new rules. And I totally appreciate that. But those who are "good" at it, earn their calls. |

![]() it should be a skill not a trademark. Stockton was never EVER refered to as a flopper, so when it did it was crafty.
To me it depends on the player. Vlade was the original great flopper. Here was a skinny Euro dude who smoked cigs at halftime, and he went against some of the beasts in league history. You knew it was coming and he would almost bait you to bump him. Harden is bad but he's a guard at least. The guy who's flopping sickens me is Lebron. When he took that phantom elbow from Tyson in the playoffs then ran all around like a chicken with his head cut off clutching his wounded neck I was honestly offended. It was one of the stranger things I have ever seen from a pro. Flopping to get a call is one thing. What Lebron did was like a bridezilla having some kind of public hissy fit because the flowers didnt match the carpet. As a man, as an athlete, as a guy whos played contact sports I dont respect him after that. This is one of the WORLDS most powerful men an thats what he's bringing??? Horrible. Pathetic. He should be imposing his will on the game and his opponents, not flopping. Its part of the game.. just another way to get a call. When it becomes your trademark your doing something wrong. I'd add that 'flopping' is helping the ref make a call that should go your way. So when the player charges into the defender, yes, the defender 'flops', but that's because if he doesn't he won't get the call and its technically a charge. The phantom stuff where players are hoping to get a call - that is bogus. And when you're as strong as Lebron, suck it up and be a man. Me, if I were as big/strong as Lebron - I'd probably grin and bear it and then go up to the ref after and say - look, I'm getting hammered, give me a call! I can't remember MJ ever flopping. I could be wrong. He always got calls. |
