(If we land a top 2 pick) This may be the best route we can take. Even if Ok4 is the best player. Its harder to find a player like Towns. If you land Ok4 to me its seems harder to find pieces to build around him. Then I look at Cousins, Griffin, Randolph, Jefferson, Monroe, Hortford, Love etc. And you would see that while these guys are all highly productive. The success in terms of winning games in today's NBA usually come down to who there PGs are and none of them have been to the finals yet in there careers. Ok4 is going to have to be Tim Duncan to surpass them. Blake put up 24pts 9.5rebs 3.9ast, 1.2stls 50fg% last season.
Ok4 may be a better player then Monroe or Towns(Though these aren't guarantees) but a Towns/Monroe combination is a very good fit for the triangle as well as a harder combination to find. With Towns you are looking at a guy who not only could potentially be a defensive anchor but also have a offensive skill set. Meaning a Paul Gasol type of player. If you look around the league there aren't many Paul Gasol type of players. Gasol, Bosh, Aldridge, past prime Duncan, Garnett yrs ago off the top of my head. Most likely you land Ok4 and you are looking for a stretch 4/5 to give him space to operate &/or a defensive anchor 5 to put around him. With Towns you potentially get both aspects in 1 which again is way harder to find while.
Then look at the passing potential and versatility of a Towns-Monroe-Melo frontcourt. With Melo being a 3/4, Towns and Monroe being 4/5s. Melo & Monroe capable of posting up in the low post, Melo & Towns capable of working the high post. Small ball spread PNR with Towns at the 5 and Melo at the 4 or big with Towns, Monroe, Melo. Rebounding should be strong as well. All you would be looking for is a defensive hustle 3/4 to back up Monroe & Melo (Thanasis??). 3&D PGs & SGs to complete the lineup with one that can penetrate to balance it all out(Shved?).
