Right after Duke lost to that NO... funny as OK4 had 28pts/8rebs/2blocks on 13-18 shooting.

There are going to be some busts in this draft and Im terrified we are getting that guy

thats a bold move on their part if you ask me. it's easy to be infatuated with towns raw talent and i do think he's going to end up the best player from this draft, but he's nowhere near as polished (and may never in fact be) as ok4 is right now. to me, ok4 has the highest chance of being a guarentee all-star type player in this draft, but to me towns could be a franchise changer.

how amazing would it be if there was was a kentucky/duke final and towns/ok4 went at it for rights to that #1 pick. im hoping.

Towns is infuriating to scout. Its such a team concept they have (which is what you want) its very hard to disern Town's impact over that of Stein's or Harrison...

agree, i've mentioned the team-concept before as well. ok4 has been beasting, killing doubleteams all year, so you definitely have to like that about him. another thing is.. even though i do think towns ends up being a great player and the best player in the draft, it's going to take him a few years to get there because he is definitely very raw. ok4 is going to come into the league beasting (atleast i think) so that might be something that pjax takes into consideration with melo on the team.

Phil suggested he would use the pick to groom a player if thats what it took. They have scouted Towns probably more than anyone. He's got a lot of eye opening moments to choose from. He will also likely take more time to contribute than Russell or OK4.

Okafor has the same face as Duncan, same damn nose. If he can develop the game Duncan has, now that would be a good thing.

Needs to tighten up a bit. IF he can be an elite post player, that'd be great.

there is nothing raw about towns? really? i'm as big of a towns supporter as there is here and you're going to tell me that there's nothing raw about him? as fish said, he does what he's asked, but he's certainly still raw. as good as i think he'll be in the post, eventually, his work in the pivot has left alot to be desired so far this year. but that's to be expected from most freshman. ok4 is in a totally different realm in this category. and towns has certainly had his defensive issues, as well.. he's almost always playing with 4 fouls.

...you and me both man. I won't say the name because it'll result in a needlessly long exchange. However, I will say that "potential" isn't always what it is cracked up to be. Kwame Brown had potential....

i mean he's not tim duncan yet but he can do a lot of things that nba centers can't do...

i mean just name all the centers that can hit a jump shot.. it's actually not that many if you think about it...

now you take that list and name all those guys that are fantastic on the boards and good defensively....

you would probably be left with something like horford, noah, duncan, mozgov, ibaka, valanciunous... and out of all those guys, there's no reason he can't be better than mozgov and valanciunous right now... and he's certainly better than bargnani and jason smith...

Mosgov is 28. Towns is 19. How is he contribuiting? What does he bring thats going to get him floor time?

I ask because I see all the skills that his believers see, I just dont see them consistantly. So when his jumper doesnt fall, or he cant stay out of foul trouble when every guard wants to posterize him at MSG what makes Towns stick?

Does Towns have a go-to move that's going to get him touches? Is he strong enough to guard 5s? or quick enough to guard NBA 4s?

I saw the ND game and OK4 was awesome but his free throw shooting cost them the game. He hit his free throws and Duke wins that game. But with that said OK4 hands down is the best player coming out of this draft. The guy who made this last mock draft is smoking something or just wants to stir the pot. But Russell at two? I wouldn't take Russell top four much less two.

I've come to think of it like this.

IF Duke played PLumlee at C Okafor at 4--there would be zero debate who the number #1 pick is. I realized watching last game finally---Duke simply plays small when they could stand to play big. They put a LOT on a freshmen to carry the team both ways and hes not equipped to do it by himself in the middle where he ash some flaw. But if they started the season with Plumlee in the middle--no one would say boo about his D and he'd have the same numbers. It just took me time to realize--and Im not stepping on coach KIs shoes but he really should start Plumlee at C and play a traditional line up. They could never match Kentucky without the double big. They could just rotate Plumlee Okafor and Jefferson. Playing at 6-10 with a 6-6 PF who should be a 3--thats small and Okafor is a 4 not a 5

have you seen him? 2 is exactly where I have him... OK/Russell/Towns in that order at the top

He can defend, pass extremely well, rebound and can actually shoot from anywhere. He also has a beautiful stroke at the free throw line.

Can OK4 shoot? Defend? Shoot a high FT?

Ok4 can bang down low but I am not too interested in another Al Jefferson.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I have seen him play. I think he is being a little over hyped. He doesn't have speed and athleticism that you would want from a number two overall pick. While he has shooting ability he simply isn't the slasher and finisher at the rim. He never runs a fast break for some reason instead of putting pressure on the opposing team he seems to slow down and initiated majority of his passes from the top of the arc. You never see him go at the basket hard on a break. Or create on his way to the basket for a teammate.

I think he is a good player but I wouldn't take him at two, 4-8 I would take him there.

Towns, Russell and OK4 are definitely the top three prospects. I have a hard time believing OK4 won't go first overall.

Though I still think Russell will be the best player in this draft. The rules in the NBA are geared toward making guys with his size and skill set stars these days (see Steph Curry and Russell Westbrook, etc)
