There was a year when we actually wanted to make the right pick, but couldn't.I know its ping pong balls, but I sure hope we hold the course and don't win meaningless games 2x vs sixers and once against minny.
This draft will change our franchise - its just a question of do we draft a franchise talent or suffer 5 more years of futility.
The NY Jets did this kind of thing the last two years, as did the Giants last year. Players have pride, though, and don't care much about the draft, and in the case of the Jets, they also liked Ryan, so they were willing to play hard for him.
RE the Knicks- MDA and the Knicks also did their best to build Curry's value up before the draft, which was also stupid, unless you really wanted someone else, and I don't think that was the case at that time.
The real surprise of that draft, in hindsight, is that Minnesota did not take him with one of their two picks. Curry/Derozan would have been a great backcourt for them.
You also had the Thabeet pick, which basically meant that Memphis' decided to pass on the #2 pick in the draft, so you can see that it is easy to screw up your draft even when you have a top pick.
There seem to be a number of players worthy of a top 4 pick this year, so I really think we will get a good player. The big thing to me is whether or not he plays a position we really need to be filled- and for me that is center.
