This is going to make free agency--especially RFA INCREDIBLY hard this year. Teams will be looking at contracts with a 30% discount buried in them.

These max contracts that Leonard Aldridge Gasol et al will be getting will be at a substantial discount to market in one year. If a team has a good player on restricted free agency--my bet is there is NO WAY any other club has a chance at them without huge compensation to the player's original team for a sign and trade.

On the other hand this will be the last year you can pick up an unrestricted free agent up at the current salary cap prices. This is what I see the Knicks doing. The MLE will go to roughly 7.5mm$ in 2 years.

This allows us to use most of the cap space this summer and still have max space next summer. Pretty big news.

It will be interesting because I dont see any RFA movement at all. I would pretty much say if you go after a RFA--you will be wasting time.

Most likely. But I think it will also cause some guys to get max contract offers who normally wouldn't get it. Possibly enough to make the matching team think twice.

Not likely. With a 90mm $ + cap--16mm for a really good player will be cheap. This is the year to lock em in. We wont get any of the top FA not even a chance. We better be prepared with a plan for secondary free agents

I guess there might be some short term deals with player options on year 2- protection if they get hurt, but flexibility to opt out and max dollars.

Don't know if there is an angle we can play where the players current club doesn't want to offer that or match???
