Okay, so the player doesn't necessarily have to be ready to start but at least has the potential to be a starter next season. So many of the players on this team look cut out for the bench, but who could truly benefit with some more talent around them and hold their own?

Bargnani - this is one of the few guys who actually has been a starter for most of his career. However, with his injury-prone seasons he might not be able to last. I also think it is possible we don't bring him back.

Langston Galloway - I know Galloway isn't a dominant offensive player by any means, but his defense and rebounding seems to be valuable enough for him to get some playing time as a starter. He's young, so with some improvement he might be able to become a solid player.

Yeah... that's about all I got. Pretty sad that I can only think of two guys aside from melo that could start, and one of them is bargs. Knicks have some work to do.

Galloway is a back up until he finds his stroke. I would love to see him surrounded by quality player's and playing off of them though.

Well - I think this is the question - you march Melo (Healthy) top 3 draft pick, Impact FA signing out and I think you're ok with Galloway starting.

Melo, Top 3 pick, 3 FA pickups. That is your starting 5 next year. Everybody else who survives for next year are rotational players.

Yea Galloway and/or Shved will start. Phil and Fish are going to develop from within where they can. Add Towns/Monroe or OK4/Ajinca and lets go

Melo, Shved, Bargs, Draft Pick, Free Agent is my guess. If you do this you'd only be looking at a SG and a PF/C who can block shots and rebound. It depends on who we draft. Towns and Bargs actually works. You could also move Bargs to the bench and bring in a Robin Lopez and Monroe. Ajinca and Danny Green are options.

Everybody is fighting for the 12th spot (end of bench roster).

Depending on who we add in the off season, will determine who gets moved up as a starter.

The real question is probably who could start for other clubs?

Melo may be the only legitimate starter at this point regardless of who the Knicks are forced to start in the future. Basically, this is a collection of mostly marginal players. Galloway is not really a top player most likely. Perhaps Shved will find his way into being a legit PG which would be more valuable than anything Langston will likely provide.

The only other one is Thanasis. Nobody knows if he will be an impact player or just energy off the bench.

As of now, the Knicks have 1 legit starter (injured). They need to draft and acquire at minimum two bona fide starters in the off-season. That means almost everyone on the team now should be thought of as fighting for bench space next season, but almost none should be starters under the right conditions.

Depending on the team.....Galloway, Bargnani ans Schved can all start.

The only guy we have who could actually start on an NBA team is Derek Fisher.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I like that he has been sharing the back court with Shved the last two games. Prior to that Shved always came in with Larkin and Galloway was with Tim. I think a Shved/Galloway back court could be really interesting.

If winning games is the goal, outside of Melo this team has zero starter quality players. The draft pick isnt here yet, and we have no idea who will sign in free agency. To be honest we dont have but a couple of NBA players, back of the bench types at best.

Fish is under contract. Null it and make it a player's contract. Let him become a player again and relinquish the coaching gig. That would be a hoot.

How many wins do we have again?

The question is who brings enough "talents" to start for a winning team?

Shved looks like he can start, Need to see that he can keep this level of play throughout the rest of the season.
