I don't know how many people have watched miami bug they also have an undrafted d league guard named tyler Johnson and he's been spectacular in multiple games. Also yanked Henry walker who has helped the team but Johnson really looks really good.Phil is on the clock here. We should be a team making pulls like this all year.We fixated on Galloway and while he's been ok not anywhere near the class of player of Whiteside or Johnson.

It boggles my mind why we haven't seen more auditions for us this year. We are likely to be competitive next year, this year should be auditions constantly (primarily for players who play well in the triangle.)
I really feel like management is a bit lost in the present while focusing on the Future, which if nothing else, is extremely uncertain, especially with FA.

Riley old ass aint the same riley in the past. Dont give him too much credit. His scouts and GM staff should deserve most of the credit. Phil needs a better support group around him to be more dynamic and think outside the box. Phil doesnt have and doesnt know all the tricks of the trade like riley. Phil is a ROOKIE...You cant compare him to a vet like Riley. Compare Phil to other GM rookies like the nba does with nba players. Right now Phil wouldnt make the all Rookie team....but his ceiling is very high.

What on earth did you just say? That a great executive needs a great support staff to be great?

Um, yes, that is makes any leader great. They get great people in their organization and let them do their job.

So what's your point?

i agree about giving more guys try outs. I am not sure what the strategy is for keeping the open roster spot. It seems like in the Knicks situation it would make sense to use that spot to audition guys from the d league or guys coming back from over seas.
In regards to Riley, I posted about his call ups in the nba thread. Getting white side, Johnson and Walker in the same year is fantastic.

Lol. Riley in his first year of office landed Alonzo Mourning and Tim hardaway. Phil traded Tyson Chandler for bums he wants to get rid of.

Riley gets the credit because he put those guys in place to work not only for him but with him. he's been doing it his entire time there.

Phil's moves strike me as tentative and when he pulls the trigger on trades his timing is off and he settles for bad value exchange. The asset base of this gutted team should still reflect more draft picks gained, but a few 2nd rounders off in the far future don't cut the mustard.

And the trade he never made may be one of the worst of all. Last season, Hardaway would have netted us some real loot. Now his value is zero. Tim is not a good basketball player. A franchise with its head screwed on straight would have already figured out Tim is a one-dimensional player who would be out of the league, but they kept him. Another non-decision that hurt the franchise. It all adds up to bad management.

I don't need Riley comparisons to see Phil is struggling, but re: this thread, Riley is decisive and has made good support personnel acquisitions time and again.

One Galloway is a pittance thus far by comparison.

Larkin and Shved are typical of the types of player Phil has gotten in trades. They will never really add up and thus they end up being worth zero.

It may be easier to understand in Esperanto.

The key takeway is if someone says you have an azeno maljuna, they are saying your ass is old.

This is what I got when I put it into Google Translator:

And a key tidbit for Esperanto fans is the only movie ever made with Esperanto was a B&W horror film called Incubus starring a pre-Star Trek William Shatner. It is actually not bad, a spooky little movie.

Riley didn't "develope" him. Kid took control of his career, made it happen and seized the opportunity. Unlike guys on our roster that were given the same opportunity over a larger stretch of time and still can provide quality nba minutes.

To be fair, we do have lou amundson, galloway, Alexey shved to tip or hat to. Lance Thomas and Shane Larkin too to an extent. Besides then and Bargnani the rest of the squad suck.

To be fair?? If you offered all those players for Whiteside alone, Miami would just laugh at you.

And to be fair, the only acknowledgment Riley needs is that he acquired said players. How they were developed or by whom means nothing. The only decisive factor is who they end up with. Riley acquires better role players AT A GOOD PRICE consistently. We do not.

Then GTFO and become miami heat fans.

Phil has been here about a year in a historically losing franchise. He has yet to get his feet wet trying to get where Riley is. The heat historically is a winning franchise. All of the winning was fine in riles watch ever since he drafted wade....we will get our wade this year hopefully.

I'd say Miami's roster base makes the d-leaguers look better than knick base.

Thus the dleague envy is inflated.

Agree. But Johnson and Whiteside were great pickups.

Yeah they were. 30 teams in the nba. 29 other teams missed out too.
