if even 1 of those guys ends up becoming even a solid role player for this team i'd be happy.

you never know. Isiah believe it or not was an ex-scout, GM, coach, and most of all great point guard during his years. With time, unlike Layden and other will prove that he knows what the hell he is doing.

Bender, Harrington, Oneal, TMack, hmmmmmm, you never know.

Bender, Harrington, O'neal, & TMac were all taken pretty high in the 1st round though, weren't they? (Isiah didn't draft O'Neal either, POR did)

i'm just saying i don't have any unrealistic expectations out of these 2nd round & non drafted prospects...if we end up w/1 solid role player from that list i'd be more than satisfied...if you can get a sleeper star, even better, but i'm not expecting that in the slightest.

The fact that we are bringing quality undrafteds to compete in the summer league and for roster spots, is reason to applaud Isiah. We're looking at bringing in 4 draftable guys. Sure none might pan out, but at least some of these guys have a shot. Ariza and Lamizana are real quality athletes, and it seems like Chan is a pretty good athlete for his size as well. Barrett's a guy who knows how to play his position and was a productive star at his previous level. Last year the only undrafted that seemed like he even had a shot was Matt Carroll. Big difference from previous years to this year.

You've got to believe that there are three knicks likely to be ex-knicks- Othella, Deke and Trybanski- and I hope that we end up with some open roster positions.

Someone posted (was it fishmike) that they'd prefer Isiah hold of til the deadline- but if any of these young players are likely to make an NBA team, I'd rather have us perhaps get a bit less back in a trade if we can add one or two young guys that might make an impact and might contribute a little this year and potentially more down the line.

With all the High School kids taken in the first round, there are some undoubtedly NBA-worthy players who did not get drafted and who we could have cheap.

i was trying to think of the last time the Knicks ended up w/a player that made any impact on the team out of 2nd round picks or undrafted prospects...does anyone know?

i had originally thought of John Starks, but he was drafted by Golden State.

For the 100th time, Donnie Walsh is and has been the GM at Indiana!

Isiah built toronto on Camby and Damon Staudamire. Enough said.

He has no great track record in development.

That being said, I hope one of these kids pan out, and I hope Isiah proves to be be the greatest GM ever.

on the internet, Isiah is over praised, Layden is over blamed.

i know that dude...i was just saying Isiah had nothing to do w/the drafting of O'Neal...those other players, he might have at least had a say in their being drafted.

Zeke pursuaded Walsh to trade Rose for Artest, Mercer, & B.Miller. Plus O'neal, Harrington, Artest, Bender have all said they would not be the players they are without Zeke. Im not saying that its true but it goes to show how much respect he gets from players. He failed in the 2nd half as a coach because O'neal's step father shot hisself in the head. Tinlsey mother or father died, as well as Croshere father died. So there were alot of distractions which lead to the downfall in the 2nd half of the season in Zeke's final season with the Pacers.

As for Layden. Say that he offerd Anderson 2-3yrs instead of 7. & Spoon 2-3yrs instead of 6. As well as never traded Childs & a first rd draft pick for Jax & Bogues which turned into Eisley. As well as signed Houston to a lesser contract that he is turly worth. And I wouldn't have mind his moves. He did trade away draft picks but I could have dealt with that if it meant no Shandon Eisleyspoon. I could have dealt with the KVH for Spree. I could have dealt with the Dice trade as it wasn't even that bad as we landed Dice, Lampe & Williams.

Isiah was coach for 2 years?

I think Isiah shot all those dads! He wanted to be a father figure to them.

My new signiture:

its not low, its definitely true, nor is it a bad thing by any means. i think jvg was a stern father figure type too (different than zeke, but a father figure type all the same). lenny is a permissive bill clinton type of dad (letting chelsea smoke etc, its clear who the stern parent there is) lw's hour longpractices that drew complaints and neg press from several toronto players are NOT what this team needs. we don't need any more glen sather/art howe types here in nyc. zeke brings a bobby knight intensity (without the cruel insanity) thats a good thing...and perhaps a bit of a bad cop vibe to lenny's good cop

Chico,

It was low man. it was ment to be funny.

Freaken lighten up dude. You comparing Lenny to Bill Clinton? Layden to Jimmy Carter? (kinda makes sense though!)

Whats next, becasue Isiah took Sweets and Marbs to playoff games and invited him to his house, he is like Michael Jackson?
