I know people are excited about Lamizana, Ariza, Barret, and other locals, but it's hard to imagine there being a roster spot for more than one, especially if they play the same position. I doubt more than one of Lamizana, DerMarr, and Ariza will make the team unless two of them are unbelievable in the summer league.

I'd say only 2, and it'll probably be for spots on the IL.

I'm happy with DerMarr and Ariza though.

Probably only 1 unless we can really dump some deals. You have to consider we'll also be adding guys with the MLE, LLE etc. And we may even split the MLE so there could be as many as 3 FA's brought in. I'm just happy there's competition this year and the fact that there are some legit prospects despite not having a first round pick.

Actually, I just noticed the Knicks have 13 players already under contracts for next season. Without substantial trades (these 2 or 3 for 1 deals are much harder to pull off than anyone thinks), there probably will be room for zero rookies.

Trybanski might just get waived. His expiring contract is small enough to not really be much of a trade asset

my prediction is that we will rid ourselves with at least three current players by mid July. Look for Trybanski, Deke, Kurt, Anderson, and Harrington to be gone. I am very confident of that.

I think it will only be one rookie considering we have many players already under contract and we will probably add 2 players via free agency. If there is more than 1 rookie that players very well though Isiah will most likely find room for him on the roster either by trade or buying out someone's contract.

Yeah, but that doesn't free up spaces because you have to take back players in trades, unless you pull off a 2 or 3 for 1 trade, which is always much easier said than done

a 2 for 1, 3 for 1 type deal needs to be made...another reason why the Antoine Walker trade idea appeals to me...it would free up more roster spots for guys like Ariza, DerMarr & Lamizana to have a shot at making this roster.

The only way we get rid of some players is by taking on a HUGE contract. An example would be Antoine Walker. We send them anywhere from...

KT/Deke/Othella OR
KT/Deke/Moochie OR
KT/Shandon/FWIll (We need to give them something for them to take Shandon)

Portland would be another good trading partner for Rahim. Same trade scenario since the have identical contracts.

the Mavs & Wizards just pulled 1 off a couple days ago...why can't the Knicks do the same? even if it's not Walker, what's to say there isn't another team out there that isn't willing to take on 3 expiring deals to unload a bigger contract of their own?

Antonio Davis/JYD for
Shandon/KT/Deke/Othella


Davis would be an excellent trades asset come trading deadline. Basically, we swap unwanted contracts for each other. Shandon is shorter but more money per year.

sure, every once in a while a team pulls off that kind of trade; it's just extremely rare and not something I would expect to happen.

buy out trybanski.
then a 2 for 1 of some sort. does'nt have to be major at all. we'd have the right ingredients w/the exception of a true center. that would give us a 10 or 11 player roster. room for ariza & chan w/room to spare. maybe our 2 for 1 can include shandon, or moochie.
