I'm very excited about this. Herve is a player I've followed very, very closely for 3 years and I really think he's a player that can help on the NBA level and get a ton better. He's thin (210-215) and measured out at 6'9, but he is an athlete who can really jump out of the gym. He's a very productive shotblocker (though with the proper big man coach he can really improve his timing and technique and get better there). He has some touch on the 3 and can really dunk (won all of the Rutgers midknight madness dunk contests). There is a lot of room for him to get better. The thing he lacks is the attitude...some people say he doesnt care, but he is a really quiet guy who doesn't say much and sort of keeps his enthusiasm in. I've interviewed him and know a lot of people who have interviewed him so this is firsthand stuff. He does need to get more serious about getting better and being an NBA player. His production sort of petered out in college, but Rutgers doesnt really have any coaches that can develop bigger players (its a very small guard oriented system).

Anyway, between him and Ariza I think one can make the team and do a good job for us. I really hope he decides to play for our team and hopefullly he is serious about trying to make it. Not getting drafted was probably a major shock to him and he probably assumed he was going somewhere. He wanted to leave after his junior year because his family in Africa needed the money. Now nothing is guaranteed for him and he's gonna really have to work. I'd love to see a more motivated Herve...

according to the article, it's only a "possibility" that he would play. He'd have to be foolish not to, though.

Give Isiah credit, going after talented non-drafted local college kids, makes good basketball sense, and is good public relations.

As I posted on another thread, the irony is that Barrett and Lamizana are finally playing together, because Herve thought that he would be offered a scholarship to Seton Hall four years ago, but Amaker never made him an offer.

Well the Knicks have a few slots open to stick rookies....same slots Sweetney, Lampe, and Vranes held at the begining of last season.

Ariza is 19 and Herve is 23......both should have stayed in school but Isiah has a camp that is all about taking these kids to school.

Isiah might just sign Barrett, Ariza, and Herve.....all three should have been on everyones radar but they weren't.

Why not the Knicks didn't have any picks and wind up picking up 3 sleepers? Cool.....

Who would they replace? Sheet....that's Moochie, Shandon and Othella...all three are not in the plans so why not pick up 3 rookies to get those minutes?

Call it luck man but I think that is pretty flippin cool.

Lamizana will make the team if there's a roster spot open...Isiah needs to unload 2 contracts for 1.

Consolodating players would be ideal. Time to find another Penny Hardaway.....maybe Antonio Davis is one of those guys. The Bulls are in rebuild mode so maybe they will do it.

Isiah just has 2 holes to fill really and then stack up a few young gunners to fill holes from the inside in the future.

Ah isn't life grand? I hope things work out in the Knicks favor this off-season.

SF - Stephen Jackson (MLE) / Penny / Ariza or DerMarr
SG - Houston / Crawford
PG - Marbury / Frank / Moochie
IR - Shandon / Trybanski / Lamizana

TMS... Tim has played some good ball for us and I think the best is yet to come. Also I think we can do MUCH better than that w/ our expiring deals.

it's not as if i think TT is garbage...only that i would be willing to replace him w/Crawford & unload the extra contract if you could sign Jackson to the MLE...i think that team is more well rounded than the 1 we had last year.

WOW! ahhh, the ray of sunshine that comes through my window every time i log onto ULTIMATEKNICKS.COM, and joyfully read all the positive posts w/no negativity from our ousted nemisis "playa".
soory guys, had to vent.
anyway how about a deal of crawford/davis for k.thomas/deke/trybanski? don't know if it works money wise, but in my eyes crawford is a priority. it would also free up an extra spot for either lamizana or barrett. (barrett if we can unload norris or f.will.) i also hear that curry might be going, so they'll need bigs. two have more than enough experience, and two have ending contracts. i'd rather a sign and trade so we keep our mle and lle. From D'Alessandro's column in NJ Online:

Note:

Herve Lamizana, the former Rutgers and St. Patrick's standout, will not be on the Knicks' summer-league roster when they open camp Tuesday at Greenburgh, N.Y. The 6-10 forward declined the team's invitation, but did not divulge where he would be playing this summer.

I'll try to find out where he's going next year, but I bet he'll play overseas. Too bad b/c he had an outside shot to make this team or some other team if he played the summer league. I think he might need the money though.
