It would have to be a sign and trade, right? Can players be signed tonight?

If we want to use the MLE on him, he'll definitely be ours. But I'd rather use the MLE on a big man and try to do a sign and trade for him. The Bulls could use cap releif and a solid veteran big man like Kurt

They already have Antonio Davis/Jerome Williams/Tyson Chandler at the 4, they don't need KT.

Kurt's a significant upgrade over those players

ahhh, herein lies the dilemma. do you give crawford or swift the full MLE. both are young, both are athletic and both are developing. the question is who will help the team more? team needs dictate swift but crawford will ultimately be the better player.

they will match the MLE for craw cause otherwise they'll loose him for nothing.

Look, you keep the kid and trade him for an expiring contact and a pick. much better than nothing insn't it ?

wtf is wrong with u? U want webber and Stackhouse. They are more injury prone than Camby!! Oh and Rahim and Dampier are career under achievers. I can see if right now, u are planning some sick Roster for next season. Stephon, stack, Rahim, Webber and Dampier right? Not gonna happen bro.

I'd trade Shandon Anderson or Moochie Norris and salary filler for Stackhouse. That's about it, though. And Dallas wouldn't do that.

I think if Isiah does give Crawford a 6 year deal Paxson will fall back. Pax did say that he wants to keep Crawford regardless who was drafted.

He said keeping Crawford would give them a good rotation like Detroit had back when they had Vinnie, Isiah and Dumars......

Bull, no pun intended. I just want the Knicks to get busy already.

He could be just bluffing; remember last year when the Clippers' owner said that he would definitely match any offer Lamar Odom was given?

KNICKS GUARDED ABOUT NEXT MOVE

By MARC BERMAN

June 26, 2004 -- Maybe the best thing to happen to the Knicks at the NBA Draft on Thursday wasn't their second-round selection of UCLA freshman small forward Trevor Ariza, but the draft-day doings of the Bulls.

In selecting a pair of combo guards, Ben Gordon with the third pick and underrated Chris Duhon in the second round, the Bulls won't be desperate to re-sign athletic guard Jamal Crawford, a restricted free agent July 1 and the apple of Isiah Thomas' eye. The Bulls would seem able to get by next season with a backcourt of Kirk Hinrich and Gordon, who each can play either guard position.

Crawford, 24, who averaged 17.3 points and 4.4 assists last season and notched a 50-point game, would give the Knicks a desperately needed perimeter scorer and can play both shooting and point guard. With Allan Houston's knees a concern and Shandon Anderson exposing himself during the playoffs as a horrific offensive player, Thomas has to add perimeter punch. Ariza, 19 next week, excels in the open court but can't shoot.

The Bulls said yesterday they'd relish a three-guard rotation of Hinrich, Gordon and Crawford, with coach Scott Skiles adding, in reference to Crawford: "One thing I've noticed is [GM] John [Paxson] fields a lot of calls about our young players. People seem to lowball John like we're down on our young players. We're not down on our young players."

But will the Bulls match a maximum-term, mid-level offer — six years, $37.5 million — the Knicks can extend Crawford?

Thomas is playing it low-key. "Everything they've said about Crawford is they like him and intend to keep him," he said. "They could have a three-guard rotation. Chicago said they're happy with them. We'll see."

The Knicks are on Crawford's radar.

"I definitely will [consider them]," he told The Post in April. "I don't look at him as Isiah the general manager. I look at him as Isiah one of the best players ever to play and also a good friend. I love coming here a couple of times a year. I'd be excited to play in this atmosphere every night. It would be unbelievable."
