ESPN News is reporting that a deal in which McGrady would be sent to the Rockets for Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kevin Cato might be done this afternoon. Wow, thats all I have to say. Yao and T-Mac on the same team is scary. Any thoughts?

Chad Ford had this today on Insider:
The Rockets are rumored to be in the lead, offering a combo of Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato for McGrady and Juwan Howard. That sounds like a fantasy trade that every other owner would veto. We know John Weisbrod is a hockey guy, but even he should know this is a terrible deal for the Magic. If the Rockets pull this off, pencil them into the Western Conference Finals.

Yea I heard that Houston was in the lead yesterday but I never thought T-Mac might actually end up there in the end. IMO Orlando can get a better deal for T-Mac and maybe they have but they probably just think this is the best deal for them.

thats a good deal for orlanda... steve frances is a Really really good player, and then they get 2 more real good players... that about equals 1 great player if ask me

I thought the magic could get more, but francis is a nice player...

Yeah man those Pheonix rumors were pretty good but since when can you change the face of your team in one trade. I mean this is a trade that Isiah would applaud.

They get three starters! they get a starting backcourt and a starting center......wow. Just for McGrady? Very good, very, very good.....

That just means that Orlando may have gotten better and the Knicks have yet one more challenger in the east which is good for the game....The NBA is in transition and it's beautiful.

I hope this trade goes through....everyone has to step up their games now.

As much as I like Yao, I doubt this puts them over the top. They need a whole core and Yao still lacks that toughness. I wonder how JVG will get along with T-Mac.

I guess this means one good thing for the Knicks. At least Allan and the Knicks only have to face T-Mac twice. lol

Which by the way, before Yao and JVG came along, the nucleus of Francis, Mobley and Cato went NOWHERE.

I think the deal for Rockets is a no brainer but Magic would need more. While Okafor,Gooden,Hill,Mobley,Francis would be a good team..i'd take the Suns deal or Clippers first

If that's true..Francis needs to grow up. He has done this before on draft night. He always gotta dictate where he goes. I'd love to play in Orlando.

What about Francis to Indiana for Tisley and Harrington? Gives the Pacers the point guard they need.

Here's the latest, the deal has been finalized but Charlotte has to pass on Mobley, Juwan Howard, and Cato in the expansion draft for the trade to be complete. Even though Francis doesn't want to play in Orlando, he has no veto power so Houston can just force the trade. So T-Mac will basically be a Rocket tomorrow night after Charlotte doesn't choose one of the players mentioned in the trade. BTW Orlando is also supposedly going to send Tyronne Lue and Andrew DeClercq to Houston to make the trade work financially.



Wait a minute are Mobley and Cato protected? Or are they unprotected?

Ok I just checked, Mobley, Cato, and Howard are in fact protected. So this article doesn't really make any sense.

what's really interesting is t-mac playing defense in a jvg system.

i dont buy into houston getting better. they're swapping egos and orlando will show its magic with da franchise...if that deal happens, just wait and see.

this is a weird trade. but tmac has them in a corner and they need to get something of solid value of which they are doing, but this kelvin cato part is something that has me scratching my head. this cements ok4 at 1

francis is already bitching and moaning b/c he doesn't want to play in orlando. this is actually a steal talent-wise for houston. i guess orlando doesn't want to be stuck with nothing but a team of francis, mobley, hill?, gooden, and cato are a 30-35 win team at best.
