that will be available to us as we have an obvious need to rebuild our backcourt as well as our frontcourt. I'll just do a few posts highlighting 3 guys at a time in no particular order for people to check out leading up to the draft. The 2nd half of the draft has a host of talented guards--the most I have seen in years.

#1 Olivier Hanlan 6-3.5 PG--Only a junior but I think he will come out as he has wanted to for the last two years. When I first saw him play against Uconn his freshmen year I thought he had a chance to be a really great player. He's tall(6-3/6-4) shifty quick and agile to the hoop with a huge array of moves--all of them. He has a bit of a strange release on his jumpshot which I think has kept his 3 pt shooting down a bit when it could be a tad higher but still very respectable. He's a really good passer very under rated passer as he plays on a terrible team with guys who cant finish. If I had to put chips on the table to say who is going to be "the star" of the 2nd round and maybe a really good NBA player--Id put my chips on him. He has quietly taken his game to another level in the ACC this year(which I consider the best league) and has been quietly dominant. He is the FOCUS of opponents defense yet he has been a consistent scorer from all over the court. Hes a solid rebounder for a guard and a fair defender of his position(I think he has energy drain for the output he has to bring for a crppy BC team) Mock draft rank #33

#2 Keifer Sykes PG 5-10 He's the number 1 athlete coming into the draft maybe since Lebron James. If he was 3 inches taller--hes be a top 3 pick. Strong like Stephon Marbury can take contact and just play right through it--really he reminds me of a 5-10 Stephon Marbury with extra hops. He's short and his arms match his height which make him limited on D but he is pesky. Id have to guess he's 5-10 straight up. He's a head to the rim jumper which allows him to play much bigger and it shows in his rebounding. He's explosive as in Russell Wrestbrook explosive. For example we have a player who can jump--Shane Larkin--this guy would play well above Shane's head. Hes an in game dunker(and he has dozens upon dozens of in game dunks to prove it) with either hand and given any space he explodes to the hole and is very fast in transition. Has a nice tight handle does not turn it over. His jumpshot should be better his form is ok but his results have been somewhat porous. You take the combination of 5-10 and add a porous jumpshot to it and that's a bad combination. That limited his game in college against zones and if he doesnt improve will be tough in the NBA to survive. That being said there are few athletes as explosive as him who can actually play basketball at a high level. With improvement in the jumpshot he certainly can be a player who can contribute in the NBA as s park plug. Mock rank # 50

## Dez Wells SG 6-3 225 I wrote a post about him three months ago coming into the season that I thought hed play into a first round pick--then he got hurt. Solid powerful athletic guard a bit undersized for the 2 guard but plays pretty big. Good all around game. Average shooter a + penetrator and great in open court play.Solid rebounder and defender. Can be an explosive scorer reminds me a little of Bobby Phils. Gets a lot of contact and goes to the FT line a good deal and makes it @ 80%. He has the ability to be a solid NBA guard. Has the body and the atheltic ability Mock draft #36

Would love it if we get a 2nd pick someone and find a diamond in the rough PG even if we draft Russell or Mudiay

What are your thoughts on Georges Niang? I think he could plug in as a contributor in the triangle, but he'd be exposed in most other situations.

He's an intangible player. I think if we do get some 2s we should focus on guards. Because of the glut of bigs there will be 1st rd talent in rd 2 from the guards
