I have Calderon and Galloway splitting time for now until we can address the PG situation down the road. Can't do it all at once. Millsap is a good defender, as is Matthews. Would love an elite defender next to Okafor, but defense will be fine. Also, we should still have enough room for a max free agent the following summer. I am simply adding 2 players who fit the system and fit alongside Melo and are 2-way player. Also adding the top draft choice. I think a more realistic option is us not landing the top pick (75% chance at best of not landing it) and drafting Towns and signing Monroe. Would still love Millsap over Monroe, but i will take either. As far as SG, i'm very confident we add either Matthews or Danny Green, but will have to pay well of course. While this isn't the most athletic looking team, its a team of players that fits in the system and should be improved.

As for spending the $30mm in one spot.. Honestly Briggs I see this as 4 year stretch. Please dont let opportunity to pass you because of 2% chance to sign Durant. Please. Build a good team, yes you will have to overspend but look at the timing... all your 4 year guys will expire when Melo does, so...

1) draft a franchise player
2) spend to build up the base and fill the roster with quality
3) build not only the player base but the underside of the roster. Use the draft, use international, find the undrafted gems
4) in 4 years (after some good ball) Melo and everyone else you overpaid for this year are off the books
5) 4 years of playoffs

The thought of missing out on chances to have cap space for Durant is as Dolan as it gets. Look at Atl... you can do this with GOOD players. Some we will have to overpay for, some we will find cheap. Need to execute on every avenue.
