Is it easier to learn how to play defense or offense? Please advise.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

It is easier to learn Offense. Sheer talent can help on the offensive side, but defense requires lots of hard work and hustle. Jim and Phil know this and plan to put a defensively strong team on the floor.
FIX THE KNICKS / AND MAKE THEM SHINE / GET ’EM TO WIN LIKE ITS ’69 / HITTIN’ ALL THEIR FREE THROWS / AND NO MORE SHOOTING BRICKS / TIME TO GET IT RIGHT / AND FIX THE KNICKS

I don't know if I would agree with you on that aspect. I think offense requires skills and a certain level of athleticism. Defense is all about DESIRE. It helps tremendously if one is long and agile and has the DESIRE to be a good defender.

If you ever coached kids, defense is the easiest thing to get even the most uncoordinated kid to play. It's what gets kids believing they can contribute.

That's the same on the street too. I've had plenty of guys I grew up with that couldn't play ball but learned how to get into games by just shadowing their man. Everything else comes after that.

Do you think it would be hard to get a big like Stein to contribute offensively? Does he even have an offensive repertoire?

What he does on the defensive side if the ball is exceptional. He guards all five positions on the court, rebounds well, and can push the tempo. This kid is a super star.

He is able to put the ball on the floor and drive it to the basket I like what he can give us right now. He is a much better player then Chandler

It makes me sick to my stomach that guys like this never manage to develop their games. That desire to develop has to do with the individual. You have to put in extra work and have to want to get better. You can't put that on a coaching staff. I can teach anybody how to do anything on the court. It's up to the player to take that knowledge and become obsessed with perfecting it.

To me defense is more natural to the game than the jumpshot. When guys can't play defense, it just speaks to their upbringing and their heart as an individual. It's something that can't be coached. You can tell a guy to be aware of certain situations but it's up to then to pay attention when they are out there.

Everyone wants to score but if you can't play defense that means you aren't paying attention. Again when you are coaching kids, the ones that play defense are the ones you tend to play more even over a kid that can put the ball in the basket. At least that's the old school way. If you can't play defense you simply not paying attention and you should not be allowed to even play on any level.

i dont see stein having more upside than okafor or towns even though im a fan of him. Most likely he goes between picks 6—10

I think Stein's game is underrated. What he provides does not often show up in a stat sheet. I know the analytical fans/front office guys often look to marginalize talents like stein, but I am old school; I would over pay for him. If Rodman was playing today, he would be viewed as an average player.
