George Karl is the coach in Sacramento. There's articles out there suggesting Karl and Cousins are just destined not to see eye to eye.

would you trade that potential top 4 pick for cousins on draft night? Like let's say we do get Jahlil okafor....would you flip the kid to Sacramento for Cousins?

Melo called cousins his little brother a while back. We know what cousins can do on the court. His career averages are 18/10 with 2 assists, a steal and a block. He has a temper and a **** you mentality but he's arguably the best center in the league. He makes 14,15,16 mil on the 3 years left on his contact.

Just throwing it out there. It might be better to keep the draft pick and save the cap to build around the pick and Melo. Then again the Knicks would still be able to sign or absorb another good player or two to combine with melo and Cousins.

Thoughts?

In our circumstance I wouldn't. Cousins will cost you that top 4 draft pick and cap space. It would be better to draft a top 4 player and sign a stud free agent or 2. If both pan out then you have 2 stud players rather then one. With one of the stud players on a rookie deal for the next 4-5yrs.

If we had more draft picks and flexibility to improve then it would be a better option for us.

If we trade for Cousins we would be left with about $15M in cap space to fill out the rest of the roster. Assuming we waive all of the non-guaranteed players and their cap holds.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

But at his age and talent level, wouldn't it be worth it? Cousins at the money he's getting is a discount. Kid is 23 years old.

I'm not sold completely on okafor, But I do like the idea of drafting Towns if we could get Aldridge or Monroe. With Okafor you're going to need to find a defense big to play with him.

Just something to ponder. I think Demarcus cousins is the only player I would trade the pick for

If sacremento would give us pick 11 and cousins for pick 1 I'd do it noyhing less and they won't so I wouldn't

I just don't see Cousins as a corner stone piece. If Knicks land OK4 you stick with OK4 and hope he become a franchise player.

Agreed. He puts up nice volume but is inefficient and has really bad defense.

Inefficient? What's the avg efficiency for a back to the basket big? I guess his career #s are poor but his efficiency has improved yearly. To me his problems defense, like you mentioned, and turnovers.

Also, people let's not forget that these players could be another Beasley, Evans, or Thabeet. Plus, couldn't the Knicks sign their FAs then trade for Cousins later like Cleveland did for Love? Calderon plus the pick should be close to matching then you add in a fee S&Ts like Wear & Cole.

Unless you have a Riley or a Jackson to coach him you are asking for trouble IMO. Doesn't take much for Cousins to check out.

Inefficient might have been too harsh since he does a lot of damage from the line. 46% from 2 point range is bad though. I'd definitely take Cousins but not at the cost of giving up a top lottery pick.

+1

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)
