he won a title... I remember that run. I thought he would be a better NBA player, but there are a lot of hurdles for 2nd rounders. He's ALWAYS been able to shoot it. Good pickup.

Like this pickup as well. Marcus Thornton-type potential. Well done.

I tell ya what -- Shved/Lamb isn't a bad little backcourt to take a look at for the rest of the year. Keep at it, Phil. Keep adding. Go for Thomas Robinson next. Then add Bryce Cotton & Khem Birch.

If we could put something like this together for the rest of the year:

5 - Smith/Aldrich
4 - Thomas Robinson/Khem Birch/Acy
3 - Cleanthony Early
2 - Doron Lamb/THJ
1 - Alexey Shved/Cotton/Galloway

That's a very watchable group. But then play THOSE guys. Don't waste anymore time on Bargnani, Calderon, Lou Amundson...Bargnani should be bought out immediately.

wow! the guy can actually shoot the 3. He is hitting at 40%. 2's only at 38% which is bloody awful.

so looks like not much of a mid range game but can shoot the log ball ... will he fit into our mid range philosophy?

that was just to trigger Nixluva's alarm

the fact that he shoots so poorly from inside the arc is red flag. He seems like he would fit into an MDA offense or Houston pretty well.

YUP! More guard competition is great. Goodness knows THJ hasn't exactly tore it up. A kid that can actually hit his open 3's would be great. Gotta keep looking for hidden gems. You never know what you might find.

I actually agree with you on this

We need to keep trying out players at this point and see if we can hit the jackpot on one of them.

We need to keep trying out players at this point and see if we can hit the jackpot on one of them.

Thats the beauty of the triangle or any offensive system. If it's a good fit, it can turn average dudes into stars caliber players. Look how Novak looked when he played with us. Now look at him? Phil is learning on the fly, along with Fisher. Lets hope these learning experiences pay off next season, along with a little luck in the draft.

I think Phil is a fast learner and based on his years of experience in the league I think he has a clear vision of what the team should look like. Getting the Draft right is not as easy as it seems, but the higher your picking it at least gives you a greater set of options to choose from. Free Agency isn't exactly easy either. For Phil it's going to be a mix of EVERYTHING. That's what he's been doing. He's looking for players that fit his ideals and can excel in this system.

I thought he was steal when he was drafted. Good shooter and solid ball handler. I remember scouts saying he had limited upside because he was just an average athlete. He can't finish at the rim for crap, but he's still young..

Spurs also signed Reggie Williams for the rest of the season. He would've been a good player to bring up for the rest of the season.
